Dang I started looking into putting these pods on my boat and my local shop said they have had a few people come in with these exact pods and said they did not recommend them bc the quality isn't there then proceeded to quote me 750 for the job custom done :/ I know this guy and i Know his work is amazing but 750?!?!?! Idk if i am willing to spend that much just for the pods. do they really help the boat that much…? ughhhhhhhh

They do help, if nothing else your transom shouldn't squat in a hole shot.

But with a 12' boat and a 25hp.... ya might be using to much dynamite there butch

hahaha yeahhh but what size boat would be ideal then? I could always sell my boat keep the motor and have the pods put on a bigger boat but all a bigger boat does is slow me down really. Its just me and my wife and new born and they all fit just fine. But I sure would love to have a bigger one for more activities lol

                  A little bit.
The bottom is done. Polishing complete and finished with a Marine metal wax called Collinite. It feels slippery.
                  We’ll see if its faster.

Question: What disappoints as much as boats?

                  Answer: Trailers.
New bunks, carpet, jack, greased the hubs and polished the diamond plate fenders. Still need to replace the lights, I cracked one. Wiring is good.

I bribed some friends and a neighbor with beer and venison jerky, we flipped the boat and loaded her back on the trailer.

Welder is swamped and needs a couple weeks before he can help, awesome.
I’d hoped to drop the boat off last Saturday.

The grab bar arrived so I started playing around with the setup.
My cooler fits nice between the existing rear corner floats.
Plywood is where the aluminum front deck will be.

But what if I decked behind the cooler, over the fuel and battery, I could move the cooler on top of the deck for a seat/platform when fishing and poling.

Wouldn’t be quite as high for poling leverage or sight, but still feels pretty high when standing up there, at least for my little boat.
I think I'd be above the motor enough to pole?
It’d be cheaper than a platform.
                  Thoughts from the Green Screen?

Love it! I like the idea for the cooler platform in the back. Just be sure you have clearance for the motor when fully trimmed up so you don't limit the movement. Is the motor a tiller steer or remote? That would be only other issue with cooler placement. Looking good......

I think I would put money toward the platform before using the cooler. Personally, I would want to minimize as much weight at the back of the boat. The cooler probably doesn't weigh much more than the platform, but once you fill it will ice, etc. it will start adding un needed weight to the back. It would affect poling and could drag in shallow areas.

I would definitely put a cooler on the front for a casting platform, but stick to the platform on the back.

                      Looking great!

Man i can't wait to see the finished product! I do agree the less weight in the back the better but you are adding those pods you may be able to make the cooler idea work. Might be worth a try after the pods are on.

I agree. Your going to want weight forward on this rig and the way the cooler sits in this pic there will be clearance issues when motor is at full tilt.

Love this project by the way!

As mentioned tiller steer is gonna be an issue with the cooler up there, or just plain full tilt. With it lower you can still stand on it just wont be as high. If youre going to deck the front will the cooler go under it? If not Id think youre short on lower deck area for when its rough or just riding. Obviously you need a cooler one way or the other so if weight at a minimum is an issue skip the platform and move the cooler around.

I had a roughneck 1756 nearly identical to that with a 50 johnnyrude. We used a 120 qt cooler for a bait well and another for fish/drinks. Actual room ran out fast. I will say I didn't notice that much of a skinny water difference with bait chest, trolling motor batteries out of it when duck hunting. Mine didn't have a tunnel or pods and would run skinny enough to see the bottom and pucker your rear. Hole shot depth wasn't all that but on more than one occasion I had the 2 passengers and a dog sprawled out over the bow to get it gone in the short canals of east matty bay

                                Build is going great!
