If you make it removable you can always put it in there when its just you and a buddy fishing or something. I've seen some really good designs for them where you just un-pin it from the boat.
    The poling platform idea.
I already have a 45lb trolling motor with foot control.
Its squirrely, rattles incessantly, has been in the way forever on the front deck and first trip to the salt would kill it.
    I hate that thing.
Part of the weight reduction is to lose the trolling motor and additional battery.

I like the idea of a push pole instead.

Rod storage. I want a half dozen rod holders along the top and back of the platform. You'll get the idea from this pic.

The current rod holder setup in the boat is as annoying as the trolling motor. When the boys are done fishing, hand me the rod and I’ll put it up, behind the boat and out of the way of the monkeys.

Lastly, the platform risers will act as handles when getting in and out of the water while using the pod as a step.
I’m kinda sold on the idea, I just don’t know if I can afford to have one built at this time.

Removable I hadn’t thought of, thanks for the suggestion.

Y’all don’t hesitate to make suggestions, I’m making this up as I go.

        Thanks, I like it.

        Those mounts..
I'd already wanted a couple of those mounted where my transom and the inside of the pod meet for a stake out pole anyway.
Like a poor man's power pole.

Yes sir. I have them on my boat as well for two spud poles. They work great.

The thing about putting all the rods on the platform. If you notice most only have one on each side. It's bc one rod will get in the way of poling everytime.

I'd look at making a few holes on easy side where the front storage is like poling skiffs. Keeps them out the way and protects rod tips.

Looks great. Love the polished aluminum look.

Did you sell that stick steer? If not, any interest in letting it go?

I have a poling platform similar to the pic you posted taking up space in my yard. I will make you a deal on it if you are interested. PM me a cell number and I can send you a pic or two this weekend.

This is one of the cooler projects I have seen on here in a long time.

You got your work cut out for you! Nice job so far. If you lose the trolling motor for good, it will be a little harder to fish alone. Never seen a polished aluminum boat... Will it get hot in the summer?

Here is a air motor stand we build for flounder boats could easily make the top bigger for a poling platform.
