The Red one is a Richards Microfit "Tac Driver"

The other two (green and blue) are The VT (varmint) Boyds Thumbhole

The bobby Hart stocks have an aluminum "accu block" and they are around 250-300 bucks.

The boyds stock is on sale right now for 99 bucks. and comes ready to install with minimal fitting. (unless you are going to bed it)

The Red (black widow) Richards microfit was rather pricey though.. think 215-230 range after all the custom add ons I wanted... and its shipped un finished.

          Went to the range today.

Spent 9 hours shooting... Heaven on earth. Even had some storms roll through that destroyed some shot targets... but can't complain too much about rain...

257 wby (blue laminate) shot real well. Everything I put through it was sub moa.

10/22 (black krylon Thumbhole) put 18 rounds in a 1 1/2" circle at 100 yards in a 7-10 mph crosswind (the first 2 shots were sighting it in)

I didn't get to shoot the 30.06 (forest green laminate) at 100 because I ran out of day light...

The (red laminate) 700 7mm rem is having issues that seem to be scope related. I'm gonna switch the scope out on it and see if I need some warranty service done... Because it shot horribly. And never has shot real well... So i'm thinking now it might be the scope.

I did however shoot sub MOA with a 14" .223 contender, and my trusty m77 30.06... But the m77 was professionally bedded a decade ago and the contender is stock. Just like to brag I guess. Will throw some pics up tommorrow.

Finally found a round the 700 7mm rem mag likes... Hornady customs. Less than an inch @ 100 rounds. Then shot some tannerite. it's ready to go killing!!

But the reason I'm resurrecting the thread is a 77/22...

Anybody bedded a ruger 77/22 before? It shoots ok, then I free floated the barrel... Not sure if that was a wise choice.. May need to bed the action, and a pressure point in the forearm.

Barrel is off getting the threads fixed up a tad.. So no hurry. Will shoot it when it gets back with shims, free floated, and forearm pressure to see which direction I needed to head... But looking first for some first hand experience.

            Thanks

So the 700 wasn't a scope issue after all?

Lol... Nope had too many projects on the table at one time... Put the action screws in the gun... Then set it aside to tighten to spec later... Got busy and forgot. it was all my fault there total brain fart.

But I'm man enough to own up to my mistakes. (like the mechanical lock I got into with the 10/22, ruining a perfectly hand crafted, silky smooth, mirror finish stock). its now "tactical" but man it was once a looker.

bedding rasies the actiona bit right, hence the longer screws. If there is a detachable magazine, would it affect it? i would think the magazine and bullet line up would move? yes, or not a problem?

Those look real good. I remember doing some glass bedding years ago while utilizing a Brownell's DIY. It made those guns shoot great. I many do this to a couple that I've picked up recently. I love wood stocks and the prettier, the better.

Bedding should not raise the action.

It may or may not raise the action, depending on how much wood you remove then how much bedding compound you put into it to replace it. In a perfect world it shouldn't raise the action much... But the longer action screws are out there for a reason.

I found if you color everything you want to relieve in the action with a black marker before you start with the dremel it really helps to figure out what you have done and what you haven't, to keep it even, and keep an eye on just how much material you have removed.

I haven't done a detachable mag stock yet myself so I can't say. I am going to do a rem 788 if and when it ever arrives, so I will know then.

I've done a lot of bedding and this is one of the best write ups I've ever seen. Well done!

                                Devcon wins hands down.

thanks. I did a bunch of research before I started... Mainly because I was unsure that I could accomplish this task... But now it's a piece of cake. And thought I'd share with TBH!
