    Thanks guys.

Its not hard, just time consuming, and a little nerve racking the first time.

Coach what did you use for your glassing compound? I've used Accuragel but that's it.

Great post, I've got that same bug. I recently did a Weatherby Vanguard for a friend and have a Savage Model 10 that's getting a new Tacticle Thumbhole here soon.

I've never seen or done anything like this so forgive my ignorance but what is the point in doing this? Does it make your rifle more accurate somehow? Is it done for hunting or target rifles? Both?

Yes it can be done for both hunting and tac, it locks your action in tight so it doesn't move with recoil or change in weather. The people who shoot benchrest do it to all there guns. If it's done right you can pull your action out of your stock and put it back in and never loose point of impact. My 300RUM had aluminum bedding block and glass bedding and it would take 10 min to get the action out of the stock.

                  Good thread
The snipershide guys have some good instruction on building accurate rifles.

                  I've done a few in the last couple years. Bedded a 308, 280 ackley,and a 257 wby. All 700 actions.

                  Some random pics:

It shrank groups in my stock Rem 700 sps 308 from 1" MOA groups down to better than 1/2" moa one hole groups.

Bedding basically gives the action a perfect foundation that keeps the action square and free some opposing forces like pressure points from the stock expanding/shrinking from weather conditions and heat and imbalances in the torque on the action screws. This is an easy upgrade that can help any rifle shoot better.

                      Devcon 10110 for the compound

and Kiwi Neutral shoe polish for the releasing agent.

I need to take a few rifles to the range now.

Heres a great deal on the Devcon 10110 if you are interested, its where Ive bought two tubs now.

Ive got a couple leupold Scopes coming in the mail.

Then a day to line everything up, then to the range. May have to sneak off to the lease first if the rain comes... Then maybe to the range.

Will definitely post up some range pics, when I finally get there.
