Didn't he say of John McCain on the campaign trail, "He's not a war hero. He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren't captured".

Then Trump expected McCain to work with him on building the wall and Obamacare. I can't imagine the foregoing quote helped Trump much.

FWIW, I agree with Trump's sentiment in that video. But this is a prime example of his mouth getting him in trouble. This is why repealing Obamacare failed, and why the wall was not built.

I would also add. The fire in Trump in that video is VERY different than the Trump of today. He has aged. He is slower. Less lively. None of these are disqualifying factors, but it's something that will weigh on the voters mind, especially after watching Biden degrade over the last 4 years.

John McCain, the songbird of Hanoi Hilton. Sure, he was tortured and he gave it up. Then the NVA discovered who he was and he got preferential treatment the remainder of his stay. He was NO James Stockdale who was tortured his entire time of POW and he never quit. McCain a hero? Yes and No. He was until he gave in. When he came home he was tainted goods so he becomes a sleazy politician. He joined the ranks of Jane Fonda.

Like I said, I agree with Trump's sentiment. And everything you state is proven facts including first person accounts.

But if you want someone to work with you, you ought not constantly badmouth, belittle and badger them.

If the truth hurts stay off the porch right? He called mcstain out for what he was.

IIRC elected officials are there to represent their constituents, not their own personal feelings and beliefs. IMO obamacare was never going to get repealed, the uniparty will never vote themselves out of more money. If it wasn't the thumbs down traitor it would have been romney, collins, murkowski, cornyn, etc.

McCain was the lone down vote on both items from the R's, which kept it from going through. Again, I don't disagree with anything Trump said. But Trump is the Chad Johnson (Ocho Cinco) of the political world. We tell people like Chad Johnson to shut up and play. Why can't we say that about Trump?

But dang it if when Trump shows up, he doesn't knock it out of the park. My biggest worry is, he doesn't have that fire like he did in 2016 and 2020. He looks like he's finally starting to age. Which will bring mental decline.

In terms of elected officials. Senators represent the state, not the people in the state. Residents of a state should not elect senators. But we screwed that one up with the 17th Amendment.

Yes he was the down vote. Hypothetically if he wouldn't have been the down vote, one of the other uniparty members would have been the sacrificial lamb for the down vote. That was just mccains way of trying to stick it to trump for exposing him as the scum he was.

You can say whatever you want about trump. Its your opinion just as it is mine. If what he said about mccain wasn't true then I wouldn't defend it, but we live in soft society where it has become taboo to call things for what they are. Which IMO is a contributing factor as to the decline of the country.

This was 2017 not 1912, songbird was elected by the people of AZ.17th Amendment allows for Senators to be elected directly by the people of the state. Prior to the 17th they were elected by the state legislatures, who were elected directly by the people, to vote in representation of their constituents. One could probably make a good argument that the 17th is another one of woodrow wilson's attempts to transform this country.
