maybe that's the deal they made.
Dems knew they were gonna get stuck with most of it one way or another, why not cherry pick a few they could work around. Seems they are always one step ahead.

If the House does what on paper are goals this is good for Americans. Line item and having 72 hrs to read, understand, and get legal opinion before voting is great. I’m not holding my breath but I applaud the 20 that bucked the 2 party system and demanded some things in right direction. Let’s just hope McCarthy had some swamp washed off of him with this process

Vote 14 had 216 McCarthy 4 for others and 2 present. Vote 15 had 216 McCarthy and 6 present and that was enough. So the 4 voting for someone else changed to present and that did it. None of the final 6 actually changed their vote to McCarthy, technically. That is my understanding.

You are correct- The 4 others voted present therefore changing the math formula and McCarthy had enough. They have pulled his fangs and through this process made it easier to cut the snakes head off in the future if it grows more fangs. I hope they move quickly while it’s all fresh on McCarthys memory

With their odds and what they were up against I respect them for what they tried to do and also for what they got accomplished.

You will NEVER get everything you want in negotiations when dealing with that many people.

Would I have liked to see McCarthy totally defeated? Yes
