If you run into them in a liquor store, the Methodist will say hello and not pretend he didn't see you.

Why don't Baptists have sex standing up? They don't want people to think they're dancing.

Well talk about misleading title? It’s not Abbott. It has actually been in Courts for years. And it would the the elected AG. Texas voters have voted down Gambling several times for some reason as well. Galveston comes to mind. How do you blame the Governor when it’s been the decision of voters? I wish gambling would come to Texas and was sideways when the dog races got cancelled but can’t point at anyone but the voters.

It’s just general hatred for Abbott!

General hatred is fine but I don’t understand how Abbott is related to the casino in Livingston. And its open parents went yesterday.

It's digital bingo and no card or table games so not really a casino. Hope it stays, I've had a great time in there and have had some good wins.

It's been proven statistically over and over that legalized gambling also increases crime rates.

Gamble or don't gamble, I don't judge one way or the other. As the kids say, "you do you boo." However, more legalized gambling in Texas will undoubtedly lead to more crime. Should we also discuss the already over worked, underfunded police departments in Texas and how an increase in crime will effect them?

And for the record it's a stupid statement to say "you can't legislate morality." Every law we have on the books is the result of legislating morality. Anti murder laws are a moral issue. Anti theft laws are moral issue. Heck, even spending laws have a moral component to them. TBH members are smart enough to not to use the "you can't legislate morality" defense.

Jason you could be right about crime but on the flip side entertainment districts are heavily taxed and pay for LE salaries. I worked for a Dept with probably the largest “party” district in Texas. The estimated 20 blocks had more cops on duty than areas with 100s of miles. The bar, hotel, clubs, etc paid “entertainment” taxes and actually paid for the resource

That’s always been a legitimate discussion as to whether or not “Organized Gambling” comes with a considerable criminal element. So I think that Texas is doing the right thing by keeping the wall guarded so only moral businesses can become stronger. Good family oriented businesses such as strip clubs, massage parlors and the like so we can continue to claim our State has more moral fiber than LA. If Texas needs more revenue we can just tax the residents harder as opposed to the tax revenue that is raised for each state that has legalized gambling.

Wasn’t the Tx Lottery supposed to assist in funding schools? I can’t seem to find any docs stating it actually does. Not a big gambler but I’d like to be able to use barstool sports book occasionally. [emoji2371]

The question is how much money are the politicians getting paid to keep casinos illegal in Texas? Louisiana and the casinos operating there would lose a ton of money if it ever became legal in Texas.

Exactly. Think of how many Texas dollars cross the Sabine every day never to be circulated in the Texas economy again. It almost seems that the Texas politicians are getting rich off of the Louisiana politicians.

The parking lots and garages at the casino are always full of tx plates. I think y’all might be on to something

I thought the Indian Nation was responsible for the governance there and not Abbott. But we are talking about Abbott. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I guess even some republican (establishment)politicians can’t help themselves.
