I wasn't trained and or raised that way......and I bet the majority of America, feels that same way.
Well if there is any good news out of this mess it is that out of the 16,000 worldwide deaths so far, there is ZERO for children 0-10 years and 1 for children 11-20. Unless something has changed very recently. That is pretty remarkable and not the case with flu deaths.

Not to be cold but the average age of deaths from this thing is about 80 and most have severe health problems to begin with. It is not something we like to think about but we have to. Many more children will die due to an economic depression than will from corona. That is also a cost we have to think about. Don't bury your head in the sand. We have to look at this from a big picture and make wise decisions. Take out the emotion and look at the numbers.

08' was very hard on me. Didn't plan for it for sure. Spent it as I made it!

We managed and never missed any payments, but had to sell of a lot of toys at .50 on the $1. Went to cash rides and no extras.

Been very tight and cautious ever since. I hope this is the case for many more Americans.

An example of extreme microeconomic mindset. ^^^^^^

If you think what happens to the global and national economy will have little to no effect on said business then you must own a grocery store. Otherwise, your assumption will be proven incorrect. Our economy is woven together with far reaching tentacles. One persons smart decisions or prudent actions can be undone by the actions of others. Your statement is rife with delusional arrogance.

yep, you know folks want to be patriotic on one hand but are missing the bigger picture. The President has made his decisions and the 2 trillion will be spent. The statement clearly made by President Trump is "our economy will roar back and the debt will be paid." If we support the President, move forward and get this virus under control.

You would be correct on both points.

Well some of our parents and grandparents have. My 88 year old dad has told stories of how they did not even know there was a "great" depression. All they knew were folks were loosing their minds and the paper was saying people were committing suicide. Why didn't they know? Simple answer, their entire existence was already below everybody else's. They were dirt poor and the depression only put everybody in the same boat as far as they could tell. It is all about perspective and that is one I have never forgotten.....everything is relative based on how far you fall. Hold on as the ride will be bumpy and ugly but America's best will pull us out of the hole in time.

No offense to your dad but if he’s 88 then he was an infant when the Great Depression ended.

I pray that the economy roars back as Trump hope/states that it will. But this is a big ship and it takes a long time to turn and get back up to speed. The economic situation that we are facing is much more dire for our country than COVID-19.

Oscar, you and I usually agree on most social issues and I truly respect your opinion. So answer me this. If with all of our efforts, business shutdowns, social distancing we save 10,000 precious folks 80+ with health conditions. But 5,000 innocent children die directly due to an economic collapse due to suicide, loss of healthcare, poor nutrition, abuse of an out of work parent, etc...

Will it have been worth it? Hypothetical for sure but not out of the realm of possibility. My point is all of these policy decisions the fed is making have costs and are we truly weighing all these costs of the bigger picture?

Or you figure out it's 100% morality.

What if you save that one child but in turn 50 other people die? This is what we should be discussing.

Ruining our Country to save a few lives will cost 10's or 100's of thousands or millions of lives down the road. You put that 2 trillion to work on countless other problems and it will save 100x the lives. Just not in a movie setting way that's exciting! Or in a way where people are scared and politicians can get away with squandering billions.

Yes....but two points u missing. My grandparents told the story all the time.....and i shared with my daughter. In addition, a certain segment of citizens did not see any depression relief until the big war. Just saying it's all perspective and level heads prevail. At this point the president is going to spend 2 trillion and believes we the American people can carry the load. Right or wrong....its done!

I don't think people get it.

First...Trump will spend the 2 Trillion.. We will get through this.

But most have no clue it would be far far worse than they could imagine if the 2 trillion were not spent. I won't waste any more time trying to explain.

Yea, How are we defining "best"? Cost of healthcare? Talent? Number of Doctors? Hospitals/beds available? Services available? Treatment?

That could be a good discussion. I would say maybe we have the best Research and Development medical arm but that could be argued. How about the most expensive medical care system in the world?

                        Interesting comment.

When did common sense go away? How do people watch the hysterical media number and not think for themselves, ask questions, put 2 and 2 together?

Did anyone on earth think we would test 10X more this week and not have HUGE increases over last week?
The lack of common sense throughout this ordeal has been astounding and scary. The math has never made sense and still doesn't..
And when this is all said and done, and the virus hasn't lived up to its current media spin, hype, and reputation, the media will shift gears and begin a spin a different direction. People will forget that hey were lied too again.. After watching all of this I'm beginning to believe that the MSM may be this countries worst enemy...
