I have to disagree. I think this is a good call. A hard call yes. Economic hits are being taken. But just look at Italy, Spain, and the results of not taking action soon enough.

No body likes this situation. But the alternative is even more frightening to me.

For the people committing suicide, well that is their choice. It is not my childs choice to die of a virus or suffer in a hospital on a ventilator.

never thought of it like this...... I just wonder how long can we keep the country on pause until it hits a breaking point. people are going to be getting crazy cabin fever and with how dates of when things should return to normal keep getting puished back i can see a lot of folks taking severe mental health hits. gonna add more crazies ontop of all the other liberal crazies we deal with now.

I just heard a deal on the radio that said expect 6 to 8 weeks based on China and Italy. Not sure if we should start keeping track this week, last week or week before.

Dude... that is the point... To NOT have Hospitals filled to the top! I cant believe how so many are worried about money. What about people's life. It is not just old people that are dying!

Hopefully not a big role for retired and nursing student. That’s dangerous and scary. Not to mention that nursing school doesn’t teach you how to be a nurse. That comes on the job and the longer you don’t do it after retirement, the more hands on skills you lose and have to learn back.

But you do realize that the National guard personnel who have licenses (nursing or whatever) are most likely already working on this with their full time jobs so that won’t help. It’s have to be active duty and again, most of them are already working in military hospitals.

Where is all the staff at? Working our asses off because contrary to popular belief hospitals are NOT empty. You just can’t see it in waiting rooms, etc.

I’d like to see ANY ER nurse who is willing to state OUT LOUD that things are quiet or slow unless they are in a tiny hospital or a freestanding. I call BS on that because where I work, it is insanely busy.

Base Pharmaceutical Chemicals - core to US Pharmaceutical Company Medicine and Antibiotics - again CHINA TRADE AGREEMENT made by a PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATION.

Core US Goods, the US depends on daily for our basic lives, 80% manufactured in China. Manufacturing and trade exports from China to USA and world-wide consumers - cut literally over half due to the impact of the CHINESE FLU impact on China and transshipment organizations engaged with commerce.

Politicians have set this country up for this failure. The Virus is real - our resources to cover those sick, with basic medical services for the numbers now and projected, our Current Reserves are inadequate do....DUE TO THE PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATION(S) POLITICAL TRADE AGREEMENTS WITH CHINA.

Our Military was ravaged - parts scavenged to train and keep these folks in service = FIXED and US INDUSTRY is engaged with development and supply here at home. I tossed this comment in here because - IT'S USA BASED MANUFACTURING.

Trade agreement disparities - some said this was going to cause a world-wide economic meltdown, and these talking heads singled out our current President as being the one at fault if it did. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

just sat through a meeting - education- whatever you want to call it. They read some worldwide numbers and I just wrote them down and did the math. so roughly 372k cases reported- 16k deaths- 100k recovered. It is a nasty virus. but opiods kill over 50k and year and the flu kills anywhere from 20-55k a year in the US.
I would want to believe our Healthcare system is better than average and our air quality and health overall are better than worldwide average. Most of the European and Asian countries have a high percentage of smokers. Also if you have ever traveled their air quality is so poor that you wear a mask on everyday life.
