      Cannot be a serious question.

Can Trump fix policy so when Dems get back into office they can't just open the borders again?

This afternoon, you get off work, drive home and walk in the front door. When you walk into the living room, there is a stranger kicked back in your recliner watching your big screen TV, drinking a big glass of your sweet tea. Since he isn't putting your wife's jewelry in his pockets, do you go to the kitchen and get him a brownie or do you call the law?

I would contest the labeling of ‘illegals’ infact means they are criminals.

Well I understand they broke the law coming here, but ALL politicians have allowed this for 40 years, including Ronald Reagan. So now after ALL of us have benefited from them and have turned a blind eye to line our pockets we’re just going to uproot them and just kick them all out?

If that’s what he does you will see a recession the likes this country has never seen, look around at every construction project, fast food, ranch hands, cleaning crew, maids, etc. America simply doesn’t have the labor or skilled labor and it would take decades to build that. So I hope he just deports the criminals, or ALL of us are in big trouble.

                    Not really.

Congress might pass such a law but it would have to be strongly worded.

                    That will not happen.

Sometimes corrections are warranted, if the long term viability is at stake.

My point was that the ones who are not having interactions with the police will not likely be deported because (unless their employers' businesses are raided) there's no way to know who is and isn't illegal. Now, should we be raiding more businesses? Yes. But even if we do (as others have attested), it won't make a difference if we don't aggressively prosecute the Americans hiring them.

Unfortunately, I don't see that happening as very few (including Trump) have suggested it. What that tells you is the politicians in charge want to slow illegal immigration, not stop it.

How did I benefit from illegals and how did I line my pockets?

I believe that that is an incorrect belief. Well intentioned but not likely true.

If we could wave a magic wand and deport every illegal person in this country tomorrow (and all aliens are not working but here with family), it would not have the sweeping economic problems that you envision.

                            Why not?

The US can and does issue millions of visa for aliens to work every year. I have a friend who owns a shrimp dock and does many millions of dollars a year shipping all over the country. I have asked him and he said that every year when the season is upcoming, he sends in a request for a certain number of visas to work for his company. Like he might request 25 visas be issued for aliens to work at his company.

The different is that the workers are here legally and we know who they are. If we lost 5 million jobs next week because of deportations, the federal government could allow 5 million visas to be issued to replace those same jobs…. probably at better wages. Again, the difference is they would have to come through a port of entry with a permission slip. They would legal, vetted, have a job waiting on them and have documentation on who they are.

Every person crossing illegally doesn’t have this magical job waiting on him to fill because an American won’t. Look at the chaos created by the many millions of people crossing the border during the Biden administration. They were not adding to the economy. They were stripping the economy in some areas like New York, as an example, because many millions of dollars had to be diverted to support these people who had no way of making a living. How much did we need them?

It might actually improve the economy as it will be above board and not handed under the table.

True but you do have to admit that the legal immigrants are paid better. So yes, it would raise costs significantly. But also, as you stated, we desperately need to eliminate the loophole that allows illegals to receive welfare.

Yep, said it twice in my comment.

We won’t have to worry about the Democrats complaining about minimum wage because the market economy will take care of it.
