Michael Berry did an excellent piece on this criminal politician this morning on his show... Essentially, his dad "bought him that seat"... Lots and lots of family money... They also provide the venue for the Republican party in East Texas to meet, Republican ladies active in the party to have their socials, dinners and other campaign events... If he goes away, the Republican party will lose its home (venue)... He's been throwing money toward various groups for years and many in the area/district are beholden to him... His drunken display will hurt him with the Bible Belt folks more than giving DemoKrauts committee chair positions... Michael Berry is from his district (home), but does not live there now... He pretty well destroyed him on air this morning... Hope the people around the little piece of Beaumont and the rest of his district were listening this morning! He played a recording of a co-congressman from the district that grew up with him and he gave a very emotional statement on the floor of the house prior to the vote... He voted to censure him even though he's been a life-long close friend. That statement is worth the listen if you go listen to Michael Berry's podcast from his morning show this morning (Feb. 12, 24).

I missed that yesterday morning but will give it a listen. However, being endorsed by Rick Perry is enough for me not to vote for him.

There’s a radio ad going around with Rick Perry promoting some TX Supreme Court or appeals court candidates (?) and I swear it sounds like he’s completely hammered when he recorded the audio.
Can’t even understand who the names are he’s slurring the words so badly. He either came straight from the dentist’s office Novocain chair or a barstool on 6th Street.

Since I haven’t noticed a post since the primary…..
There will be a runoff. Covey got 46% and Phelan got 44%. A third candidate got 9%.
This was way better than I expected but it will be a tough fight. I suspect that many Democrats did not vote in their primary, since there mostly was no point locally. I suspect that Phelan will be going hard to get them to cross the aisle just for the primary, which they can do if they did not vote in the Democrat primary.
Covey got about 15.5k votes and Phelan got 14.5k. The other candidate got 3.5k.
I am hoping that all of the 3.5k votes was an anti-Phelan vote and not necessarily a strong supporter of the other candidate. If most of them show up and vote in the runoff in a few weeks, there’s a good chance that feeling will be defeated.
The old truth that it really depends on turnout will never be more evident than in this runoff.
Now I have a few more weeks of several more flyers almost daily and texts and phone calls….. 🤣🤣🤣
