The committee thing is a crazy argument to me as the D’s don’t chair any committees of significance (let alone have a majority). The Lt. Gov. appointed the ultra liberal now mayor of Houston as chair of a committee for years in the Senate, yet he is considered the conservative poster boy for the state.

I think it’s important to note that the majority of these conservative politicians like Dan Patrick, Ken Paxton, Ted Cruz, Chip Roy, Allen West, Matt Rinaldi, Bob Hall, Steve Toth, Tony Tinderholt, Donna Campbell……. aren’t even from Texas. They are just carpet baggers who move down here, slap on a cowboy hat and run their grift on folks who get their news from Facebook.
    lol………

Dade Phelan is FREAKING TERRIBLE. If you live in his district, do Texas a HUGE favor and vote for ANYBODY else in the primary.

I am in his district and I will not vote for him however he is running a strong campaign locally.

I think he will be hard to beat but if the rest of the GOP sticks together in the next Speaker vote…..

Let’s hope your district’s voters are smarter than you’re giving them credit for, if there’s a viable primary opponent. The GOP of Texas is really struggling with candidates though.

I have no clue about how the vote will go but I see as much for Phelan as against. He certainly seems well funded.

It seems like I get flyers on the mail and texts almost every day from both candidates but more from Phelan. I have never noticed this much attention in a GOP primary for a House seat. Then the local forums are going at it also.

The Republican Party of Texas officially censured Representative Dade Phelan today, imposing the full set of penalties allowed by the rules, for lack of fidelity to Republican principles and priorities.

Phelan is a liberal with an (R) after his name. Please let everyone in his district know how utterly horrible he is and make sure they never vote for him again.

I’m in his district and have done work for his family’s board but don’t know him personally. He is campaigning hard but what to look for is the democrats voting for him in the primary. This is a clever tactic to push him over Covey.

One of the local (claimed?) pollsters has Phelan at 64%.

That might not be far from reality.

But again, he is nothing but a single vote in a 150 member House unless the Republicans reinstate him. Then it falls on the statewide Republicans and not a tiny corner of Texas.
