If he can set a precedent, and it starts a following by others, it will be better than continuing down the same old path we're on.
Oh, no doubt about it. Im all for getting rid of people who arent doing the job. But that means we need to get rid of all but about 2 of them. I just imagine that a deal is already done to let someone even worse be speaker, and it was probably done before the vote to get rid of Mccarthy.

Surprise, surprise...McCarthy is a politician and promised what he couldn't deliver. If you are going to be a politician and be in Congress there is going to have to be compromise. I know that has become a trash word to most politicians but it doesn't matter who is Speaker...the most rabid conservative is not going to get anything passed and signed off by President Dementia as long as the Dems control the Senate and only a five vote majority in the House. I said before the 2022 elections that unless the Senate gets 60 R's and a 30 or 40 person majority in the House there will be nothing getting done to reverse the destruction this country is going thru. Pelosi was great at herding her cats because there was never an appropriation bill that the Dems didn't like. The next R speaker is going to have his hands full with this group of dysfunctional Republicans. Of course, that is just my opinion...

I just heard Trumps name being floated for Speaker.
Republicans (politicians and voters) are largely afraid to win. They're always thinking they need to try to make the Democrats happy by being "moderate" and all of that BS. It's maddening. If they'd ever decide that they want to actually WIN, it would be fun. That's what Gaetz has been doing - WINNING. Republicans need to stop trying to compromise with the Left. The Left is committed to winning. They move the goalposts every hour and demand that the Republicans compromise a little further left to appease them, and the stupid Republicans comply. It's nice to see a guy on our side that actually wants to and knows how to win, for a change.

Spot on, nothing's going to change except the last name of the speaker. Gaetz doesn't want it because he knows he would be ten times worst at the job.

Any R who votes for any D as Speaker needs to be kicked out of every committee and primaried next election.

You are probably right, I'm certainly not holding my breath. But I give Gaetz credit for trying because this CR and Omnibus garbage needs to stop. If nothing changes then there was no foul wither way. I get tired of them trying to scare us with gubment shutdown looming and "this is gonig to cause chaos". It ain't gonna cause no chaos.

Why do you suppose McCarthy let Pelosi keep the Speakers office and never moved her out like the acting Speaker has already done?

My guess is, The good guy's/women's club. Just in case he needed her for something and as usual the Dem's stabbed the Republican in the back.

Trump to be in Washington next Tuesday to meet with congressional republicans. If I am a betting man, there is someone there asking (and paying) for his support. Jim Jordan?

I hate to say it, but I don't believe the primaries are going to be necessary this go round. The establishment is recognizing he is the nominee if they are asking for his blessing for the next speaker.

                          Just my two cents.

Or he could be doing a quid pro quo with the judiciary committee. He supports and Jordan for speaker and Jordan goes after the AG James and her pet Judge grin like a possum and that Bragg guy on the other case.
