Wow....can't believe I found my card and it's in pristine condition.

          Date Issued >>>>>>>>>> 11/29/1979

          Student Number >>>>>> #0275

          Instructer ID 194-**-***

The back of the card reads....

In accepting this certificate I agree to conduct myself as a true sportsman. I will be a safe hunter and always:

          1) Treat every gun as if it were loaded.
          2) Point the muzzle in a safe direction.
          3) Be certain of my target and backstop before shooting.
          4) Practice courtesy and self control.
          5) Obey the law.

08/08/1984 just got a replacement, the student number is 110269. so, me thinks the student number is pretty meaningless.

Resulted in a spike Mule deer in San Juan National Forest Colorado.

Log onto the TPWD website and search for Education, it is real easy to get, take about a week to get it in the mail.

It is printed on your hunting license every year that you are certified. Thats all you have to have you dont have to have the card its self. I havent had mine since the first year when I took it when I was 13.

Dont know if the number is printed on the license with it or not but I know it says if you are hunter stafty certified.
I looked it up yesterday on the TPWD website and YOU DO HAVE TO HAVE THE CARD ON YOUR PERSON WHILE HUNTING! Just an FYI

I assume you have to carry it only if you were born on or after Sept 2, 1971...???

If the number is printed on your license you do not have to have it with you.

Yes. If you had to take it I know you have to carry it. I dont think that if you didnt have to take it that you would need to carry it.

Not according to the website yesterday! Here is the link

Failure to carry proof of certification or deferral while hunting is a Class C, Parks and Wildlife Code Misdemeanor which is punishable by a fine no less than $25 nor more than $500.
