I got mine in '78, student #0126. I guess the numbers aren't in order.

I knew the person who was #0001, he was the first one to take it cuz he was the first GW to go thru training to teach it!!!

I knew him for 4 years, didn't know that he was the first until I became an instructor and they mentioned it in the newsletter we got when the program hit 1000,000 or some really high number and the kid and insturctor teaching him got mossberg shotguns.

I took it in 1985 to be able to apply to a place called Hagerman. I had number 11, but I believe they used to be tied to the instructor and your number was the number of students that the instructor had taught.

According to our local GW, you don't have to carry the card. He said the number is on your license.

I don't know.....I think it's one of those things that is kinda dumb to carry. But keep mine in my wallet.

I had to look, it does have a line that says HE#.
That must be something new. I got a ticket for not having my card back in 2001 or 2.

I took my class 8/10/88 and my number is 168379.

I don't think my instructor has had over 800K students... The numbering system seems more random than anything else.
But my Bow Ed was first and it's 826243 in 2005 and my hunter ed is 862047 from early 2006.
I know there is no where near as many bow ed students as hunter ed students. Other wise there would be no crossbows during archery season...
