As far as moving- it’s true we chose to live here; proximity to our jobs and family mattered and it’s the best place to be for DISD. However; Dallas is Dallas, the crime rate and poverty levels change literally block by block. My wife works from home now for a different firm so our calculus may be changing.
It may say that in the penal code, but as those of us that work with the Dallas Co DA office are painfully aware...theres the penal code, and the way Dallas Co operates. There are quite a few offenses they will not even prosecute for (doesnt mean we wont arrest, but we do so knowing Dallas will drop it). There are many, many more that while they may have a Class a or b in the books, we write a lesser class c charge that will stick in muni court that would never even be prosecuted in county court. Its just the reality of things in a large metro (blue) county

White rock lake is a real nice area. I had a motorcycle accident there. A nice lady in a Lexus changed lanes into me and knocked me over the median and a cop car hit me head on. So in that particular case in like 2004… their response time was zero.

Anyone ever see the Lady Of The Lake? We used to go looking, but never a sighting.

Go hang out by flag pole hill and "whatever you want" of the lake will fix you rite up.
DPD don't even show up for us when we call em most of the time. They don't hardly waste their time on anything but the most serious stuff. Why should they?...DA lets everybody off. Had small fires in several houses with drugs etc. every where. Tell PD about it and they don't even go in a look at it. Hours and hours of paperwork and nothing...so they said phk it!...don't blame em. We used to always get to shootings and stabbings before them. We finally smartened up a little and just wait till they finally show up before we put anybody on scene. Great for the citizens..... Fun working there but no ****ed way I'd live there. It's sadly laughable how they "run" that city.

The OP mentioned choosing where to live. I hear gun shots almost every weekend at my house. Either from the guys on a small range on property or the idiot AC repair guy shooting into the retention pond ****

This did make me chuckle. Any probably helped the average response time greatly

quick response gets you potentially into a gun fight ... slow response gets you paperwork.
Frankly , if this is a scumbag drug deal gone wrong i really can't blame them for choosing paperwork over risking their lives . they will get a slap on their hand from the justice system and get released anyways .. and if they engage , chances are they will be scrutinized over their bodycam videos , and potentially sued, or charged themselves in which case they will be tried to the full extend of the law.

That's a decent area but mixed for sure. We need to grab a beer at the lakehouse or Matt's Rancho before it closes! We live right down the road from you relatively speaking. What's stinks is what we've come to accept as okay in our communities. It really is sad.

Oh and remember the machete guy that killed the dude on WR trail? That scarred me a bit. Still think about that tragedy.

Did pot weed determine whether you actually saw the Lady of the Lake?

Considering that White Rock is surrounded by multi-million dollar homes I'm surprised there's not a "White Rock" police department. lol

I'd definitely be down for that!! It's surprising the number of TBHers in this small area! The brewery is a short walk for me-- I'll shoot you a PM!

I've definitely heard the saying of "theres the penal code and then the Dallas Penal Code" We try not to operate down there unless we have to! Definitely unfortunate. I had an off-duty incident which ended up fine but the DA downgraded and/or dismissed all the charges (Robbery, evading, resisting, etc) against the suspect.

That and Adolph Coors didn't seem to make any difference. Never caught a glimpse of her.

That was a messed up deal for sure. And then the wife of the man killed committed suicide a few weeks later. Just awful.
