--- don't beat a dead horse about choosing where to live---
Tonight, starting at 858pm there was a significant amount of gunfire coming from the spillway parking lot of White Rock Lake or very nearby. Myself and my neighbors all heard it. First 911 calls went in at 9pm- I know at least 9 different calls went to their dispatch. My personal calls to their dispatch were received and they only question asked was "can you hear anyone calling for help" and I could instantly tell it was getting dismissed as fireworks or BS.
At this point we had heard over 60 rounds fired within 1/4 mile or so of the house and I relayed that to her.
Gunfire continues (now over 100 rds counted), with pauses, I'm assuming to reload because it was basically 12-15rd mag dumps.
I call again at 916pm and say- who is coming it hasn't stopped yet.
Then I call the desk SGT and not 911, he says, keep calling 911 to get it upgraded in the queue, so now I'm standing outside on speaker and he hears a mag dump... and he says ok we will get some folks enroute.
933pm first officer cruises through.
I did get a good tag for a vehicle that came past our area bumping bass and magically when it left, the gunfire stopped-- passed the tag along to DPD.
Less than thrilled with the lack of interest and exigency by the dispatch (it was 924pm when the call got put out for service- so technically they got here within 9 minutes- sad to get a faster response calling the substation directly but-- thats the lesson learned-- along with- tell everyone to call to get a faster response.
