Started wearing a hat and boots when I started going to Gilley's in Pasadena. If you didn't wear them you didn't have much fun. I still like having fun.
Who gives a crap what other people do? I wear a baseball cap, don’t play base ball. Tennis shoes and don’t play tennis. My wife wears yoga pants and darn sure doesn’t do yoga. Full disclosure I fully support her wearing yoga pants.
I don’t think there’s anything better looking than a man in a hat and boots. If he smells a little like cow sh**, even better.
As for the saying, “He’s all hat and no cattle,” it’s a metaphor. It refers to a person who brags about being something he is not, or someone who wants to infer that he has credentials he doesn’t have.
Like members of a bowhunting website that don’t bowhunt or don’t kill stuff with a bow?
I have always owned cowboy hats. Saying that, I spend more time cowboying and ranching now than in long time and I wear my cowboy hats less than ever. Too **** hot imho as ball cap works better for me personally most days.

If your running around worrying yourself sick about what some other man is wearing ya might just be a little light in the britches!!! Who cares what another man does on his on time to each his own
IMO. The Texas phrase all hat and no cattle is more about someone that acts bigger, better and or more than they really are. It's about bosting or braging and not being able to back it up. Mouth righting checks that the rump can't cash kinda guy.

I find it funny that cowboy hats are in style now, mainly due to the show Yellowstone. Same thing happened years ago with urban cowboy. Prices for a hst are getting so exspensive a real cowboy cant afford one. I was a working cowboy and wore a hat daily, never bothered me when city folk wore them. I can always spot a real cowboy by his hat.
