Gotta love how they squeeze every possible dollar out of you.

I picked up my mounts from Coppersmith Houston on Tuesday. Box had (3) shoulder mounts, (1) euro mount, (3) back hides. I chose not to pay the $165 delivery fee to my house because I only live 20 minutes from their office.

Looking through suggestions on things to pack on Africa Hunting Forum I saw recommendations for insect repellents. I assumed that's not an issue in late June/early July. Is that a bad assumption to make?

Been to the Limpopo 4 times in Sept. Never needed repellant.

Depends on area you are hunting by my experience that time of year was mostly gnats and maybe mopane flies . It wouldn't hurt to throw in some high content DEET spray.

I'd be more concerned about treating your clothing with permethrin! African tick fever ain't no joke. If your doctor would be so inclined to give you a 10 day supply of doxycycline ...that sure can be useful for several issues while traveling .

Thanks. That's good to know. Will a permethrin treatment survive the washing machine?

Take some permethrin with you and also take some bug spray they do have chiggers and seed ticks with fever bacteria

I am treating my 2 pairs of pants and my socks , gaiters before packing

What do y'all recommend for staying a night in Jo'burg? I see some good deals online for hotels but I have no idea if they're good hotels, on a good side of town, etc.

We stayed just outside the airport in one of the hotels. Walking distance and it was a lot better than staying at this Afton House the prior trip.

City Lodge Hotel. Right across the parking lot from airport.

Anyone taking Doxycycline for their trip ?
Hear it’s kind of a blanket policy.

Only shot I have taken while hunting in the Limpopo in RSA n 4 trips was an updated tetanus.
