Leaving June 15-30th. Burchell Game Reserve. Taking the .300Win Mag. San Angelo to DFW to ATL to Joberg, spend the night then a short flight to Port Elizabeth.
Get yourself a broker in the states for your animals when they get back. They will deal with fish and game and you wont have too. I had 10 animals skulls,capes,backhides...
Our broker had them thru customs and shipped to my taxidermist for me, about $1100.
On our last trip I did all European mounts and then some flat skins of the animals. Next to the mounts I placed some nice photographs of the animals post shot.
I do a lot of photography so I got a lot of nice shots while over there.
I like the European mounts as they do not take up a lot of room.
On our trip this summer for Cape Buffalo and Crocodile I will do the same but probably do a table top pedestal on the Buffalo skull.

This is what we are doing, just European mount and rugs
With shipping costs so insane, and I don’t have the wall space
No but I got a $1500 tour of the DFW Airport lobby. Long story. Trying to avoid a repeat. But worst case scenario, I'd like a refund on the ticket and my deposit. Also, I've heard the insurance will help if you're gear doesn't make it and you have to rent or purchase equipment. But I'll have to shop around. I got a refund from the one I bought through the airline. After asking some questions, it was essentially worthless.

Sweet. I can recommend 2 restaurants if you wanna take a Uber. Assuming your staying at city lodge, the food is pretty good there as well
We went to the Grillhouse (really nice steakhouse) in Rosebank, the ocean basket (seafood, oysters, sushi)
Was also told carnivore is a Brazilian steakhouse that’s good.
Get the number of the Uber that picks you up or you might not be able to find one after. That happened to us after we left the casino, had to find some random taxi to take us back to the hotel

Every animal you ship over will be like a Euro period. Shipping is by volume so not taking capes and back hides will save you on costs. You MAY be able to pick your critters up at the broker like Coppersmiths, all depends on the agent you get. Some critters like a Warty will get sent to a USDA taxidermist, no choice on this!

I've been told that if you have the taxidermy done there, they do not have to go to a USDA taxidermist (even warthogs).

True, but to some agents at Coppersmiths, they Euros as we know them are not “finished” products. At least the B###h agent I had said it had to be full shoulder mounts for me to pick them up.
