Interesting comments! I am in the market for 7 -10 cell cameras at our new ranch in East Texas as I type......end of season sales should be soon. Why I am buying cell cameras:
1. To learn what game populations are on the property.
2. To see IF neighbors are trespassing.
3. To see IF neighbors are trespassing.
4. To see IF neighbors are trespassing.
5. To see IF neighbors are trespassing.
Using it to SNEAK up on a animal with LIVE STREAM seems like hype to me but I understand where he was coming from. I guess we could say compounds bows and centerfire rifles need to be eliminated also based on his analogy. Heck, I can sharpen rocks and sticks with the best of them.......Im just saying!
So I guess my new ReoLink with live video is really a bad idea! Honestly I don’t use it to hunt, my main reason is to keep an eye on my cotton seed level and make sure the feeder is working. Also the “being able to talk and yell at the aoudad and bear will come in handy! I actually chased an aoudad off the cotton seed this morning.
I'm in the use if you want to a don't if you don't side of the fence and not really concerned if it's legal what state, their problem not mine I got enough of my own.....
I just now watched the linked video. The guy has complaints about a live stream option, he's not going after cell cameras entirely.
In fact he posted a video before that one about cell cameras reminding people that what you get transmitted to your device is not always what the camera picked up and to check the SD cards. https://www.instagram.com/p/CnfS4DUKPIt/
I use them for game, checking feeder operations, checking coon traps and checking rainfall as well. My landowner and his son in law text me all the time asking me if we are getting any rain at the ranch in the evening storms that will show up on radar. They both live off site so it helps them and I’m happy to oblige… especially during drought times. It helps me check my local pig place so I know if I can get in or not being in a flood plain river bottom. Generally saves me a 1.5 hour round trip if I’m hunting or going to fill feeders that day. Saves me unnecessary trips down to the feed pens when trapping coons as well when I strike out. They also tell me if some of my feeders are empty or not working so I can plan a trip out to fix it or fill it before normal trips if needed 5 hours away. It’s a cool tool to have in the arsenal outside of just checking for deer, pigs or turkey showing up …. Helluva lot more uses than folks that have never owned them think.

When they outlaw them make sure they include feeders, rifles that shoot over 200yds, crossbows that shoot 400fps, range finders, side scan imaging in boat electronics, live scope, etc. it’s the advancing world we live in unfortunately.
Can we shoot deer with a drone 500 miles away while laying in bed yet?
There was a law passed against that almost 20 years ago. It's because someone wanted to hunt a feeder with a live feed cam. And remotely (virtually) shoot animals with a weapon there. "Remote hunting" is what the law falls under. The argument was for people who were physically handicapped. But our Texas legislature opposed it in fear that to many people would take advantage of it. So, it is now illegal.

I agree with everything you said. They also have saved deer lives that got hung up jumping a feed pen.
I just don’t like what they are doing and going to when it comes to actual “hunting” like mentioned in the original video.
