Friend of a friend owns a house directly next door to a ramp on conroe. They have a large dock. Ive always wanted to sit on that dock with a camera and a sign with something like

The sunset clause expires at the end of august.
If they want to change the bay limits state wide they have to go through the Texas legislature I believe.

Possibly.
The emergency order is over the end of August. At that time it can revert back to the old limit. Or, they can put another emergency order in place which could continue or modify our current rules. Or, they can change the law to permenantly change the limits. It will all depend on what their surveys tell them about how the trout have recovered. Well, and public opinion on the subject as well.
I think we have a good chance of it going back to pre-freeze limits. If anything were to change I think it would be bag limit. The 15" minimum was ideal for the health of the fishery. This 17" minimum is not ideal for the long term management of the fishery. It was good to help with recovery but long term I think we will see a 15" min return.
