Did they find pheasants in the cooler and then come check the licenses?

Yep, at one intersection you can obey the spirit of the law and get a ticket, but not at the other one.

Yes, but they ask everyone that had killed one that day to go to the coolers. All were legal with the leg spur showing. Then they entered our rooms and wanted to see every ones license.

And that what creates a bad taste in your mouth towards these folks. I would have been peeved to say the least. Some folks just don't understand common sense.

It's the "they entered our rooms" that gets me. Opening your coolers was Gestapo enough.

Showing up when hunting is one thing. But say you're at home and out on the County Road you see a GW working. You go over and see he's hot and invite him up your driveway to give him a cold water...Then he proceeds to try and pop you for whatever. Wants to search your freezers etc.

If the police find anything after an unlawful (unconstitutional) search or seizure, everything discovered after that is unconstitutional.

Remember Silverthorne Lumber and Wong Son.

It's the point of... they know they can't by law do such & such, but they still do it.

There was at least 3 in my room. They were nice but I doubted their intentions. We were in a larger room with 3 beds. It's not that big of a deal, but also thought this is not right.

No, sir, that is a big deal. And certainly not right.

Mike Fain the Kennedy county GW , used to cruise the Dairy Queen & kings inn searching ice chest in the parking lot as people ate, so much so that I would tell client to avoid the hassle.
Same with the warden in fort Davis , the only hotel in town is low hanging fruit

I’ve heard this accusation a few times but no one ever had any details to back it up.

I have never had any issues with Game Wardens. However, this happened in our camp out of deer season. I was not there to witness. A guy was sleeping in camp. The other guys were out riding around. Game Warden is banging on the camp door. Guy gets up and the Warden asks for his hunting license. Well, he did not have one. He was not hunting. The warden made a huge deal out of it before finally leaving. How much can these folks harass individuals?? Also, are you legally obligated to get out of bed in the middle of the night to show them your license? Just asking because I do not know. I have only been stopped during the day while fishing.....show them my license and they are on their way.

This is a huge win for East texas.
