Game wardens may need warrant now

I try to be a law abiding citizen but game wardens make me as nervous as a drug runner. Luckily the ones in my area are a bit seasoned and treat folks right.

GW in Llano County several years ago had no issue climbing over a pad-locked gate and then making lease partners wake me up and get out of bed, late into the night, to check my hunting license. BS

GW in Collingsworth County, also had no problem climbing over a pad-locked gate, walking to camp in the dark while we were all sitting around campfire.

Only two encounters with the GW in recent years.

Locked gates mean nothing. Nothing to hide from GW; however, the Constitution should mean something.

LE still has rules they should be required to follow - espcially if they want to spy on me on my property or trespass on my property.

Why would he check a license of people not hunting? Someone in a deer camp doesn’t mean that person is a hunter

In 45 years of hunting I have never had a GW show up on any place I hunt and it wouldn’t bother me if they did. I’m not doing anything against the law. They can come anytime they want as far as I’m concerned l.

It's a fine line. Our new GW seems ok but he's been a GW for a while.

I had LCRA boat police try their dangest to give me a ticket. They were frustrated when they couldn't find anything. I was getting ticked off and almost said to just hurry and make something up and write a ticket so I can get back to fishing. Freaking lake full of drunk boaters and you're wasting your time checking the weight rating on all my kids life jackets? Jerks.

A lot of the problems I've had are with the young ones, some of whom through conversation I end up finding out they've never hunted a day in their life and don't fish. I almost wonder if PETA has infiltrated their ranks and going bonkers by design. They will sometimes literally act frustrated and upset to not be able to write a citation of some kind after wasting 45 minutes of both our time going back and forth. One guy wanted to see my hunting license at 11pm in camp at the lake, I told him no because I'm not hunting and I was pretty hammered. An hour and a half later I wanted to go to bed so I showed it to him. You'd have thought I just wiped out his life savings by the look on his face he was so disappointed. This was after he went through all our tents, climbed in and out of my boat multiple times, went through all our trucks and bags and everything. This dude kept going on about how brave I was to hunt one of the Amistad areas by boat, dude was weird.

Another one tried to tell me I couldn't park where the feds told me to park on a youth hunt because the landowner across the street had a blind setup in a field that I was supposed to respect. He cussed at me in front of my kid while stomping his feet and throwing his arms up saying just get the **** outa here man get the **** out. There we're two Sheriff's that came up and stayed there for the full discussion which made me feel way more comfortable. You could tell they were confused. He ended up calling me the next day profusely apologizing after the feds got a hold of him.

Both of those weren't young guys but they weren't the old dogs either. The one at camp had a trainee he was showing off for. That trainee just watched and had a bit of a dumbfounded look on his face the entire time.

I have seen two different times when LEO got busted for poaching a trophy deer
1. Was a GW that shot a monster buck outside of sarita and entered into the muy grande contest and deer was very much recognizable from photos, claimed he was off duty and had permission ,
He died of cancer before it was investigated more
2. Was a border patrol section Chief , shot a trophy while on duty, with
Help from other BP , he entered cola Blanca contest and was seen on tv
He was convicted of poaching and the other BP’s of conspiring
He was transferred to las cruces NM , lower ranked where terminated from
These are Leo’ that have a license travel basically anywhere any time
And probably would have never been caught if their egos wouldn’t have been so huge

I have at least a dozen friends/buddies who are police. If/when any of them have me on the side of the road I realize our friendship is second to everything else. And they know that too.

I got pulled over on the ranch road by the game warden and his trainee , they asked for my hunting license, I told them I wasn’t hunting , they said I needed to show them my hunting license because I had on a camouflage shirt, I told them I didn’t know I needed one for
Wearing camouflage while driving to replace a hydraulic pump on the
Dozer , that mandated a truck search and ice chest search by them

This conform and consent mentality by LEO is crazy , let me look in your car or I will make sure things become very inconvenient for you !

No, they're solid. And the guy in your example ran a stop sign and didn't have a wreck. Why on earth would anybody waste their time on that? And most of the time it's a wave (or a middle finger) and no stop. But when they do pull me over and I've got Rachel McAdams tied up in the bed of the truck I know to be on my best behavior or the bastages will steal her.

I have a question, Can a game warden open your ice chest in a motel parking lot and you not even be present? I'm talking about the back of your pickup with the owner not present. Just curious.

I don't remember that. Did they get off? I sure hope they did, if they slowed enough to clear traffic before "running" it. That would fulfill the spirit of the law, after all.
