I am hoping it passes as stated earlier. I bet we will see less stories on here about LOST deer because people aren't as proficient with their bows as they think they are!

So why do you want it legal? Why not just leave the current seasons alone?

I do not see how any bow hunter could actually not care about this. I understand fence riding to a point but to actually want it is fishy to me. Got to be another reason.

When it happens. Hopefully this legislative session. All those that predicted the end of the world will realize no one had anything taken away from them and even more people will join the sport of bowhunting solidifying our place in the world with a stronger foot hold to combat the anti's and keeping our heritage alive by a few more years.
And even though a crossbow is heavier and longer.. You do not need near as much room to shoot it. And you can more easily shoot out of blinds....or even while laying down... without moving anything but a finger.

I'm against crossbows in october 100%, not because I don't want to share the season with xbow hunters, I think it could actually really promote archery just the way compounds did. The problem I have is the gradual erosion of the of archery only season, first they legalize the draw lock, then xbows, next they will let primitive/limited range firearms in october. I said this awhile back but I didn't like seeing them close the 5 day gap at the end of october between archery and gun season and allowing archery season right up to rifle opener, because I knew what they had in mind for the future, they wanted a three month rifle season from october to january, after all its already that way on MLD lands. They almost took another step by allowing youth rifle in october this year, thank goodness for the LSBA for stepping up on this one.
Based on your logic maybe we should all just hunt with spears on the ground. That would more of an even playing field. I would assume a hunter that uses a spear thinks hunting with a bow is cheating.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think the regs should change. I just think some of the anti- xbow arguments are not very legitimate. It's like the draw lock you mentioned. It's funny that since I started bow hunting, I have only seen one draw lock, and know multiple people who have never seen one and don't even know what one is. The one that I did see was being used by a guy who had cancer and didn't have the strength to properly draw his bow, so an xbow would be legal for him anyways. Who around here is using these things. Some of you'll act like every other hunter in the woods has one. That is not true. How many people here have hunted with someone who used a draw lock? Legal yes, prevelent, no.

A crossbow is much larger than a modern compound. It is not easier to wield in a blind. I speak from experience.

to each his/her own but i personally think its kinda cheating. i also think draw locks are pretty ridiculous and should only be used if honestly handicapped. the draw cycle is one of the hardest things to do with game present. taking that part away , in my eyes,is in part taking the hunt away.
i dont really care about rifle seasons use of xbows. i actually prefer it because it keeps the woods around me more quiet.

Every bow hunter I know, or hunt with, if he does not shoot year-round in 3d's for practice and competition, shoots for months leading up to deer and elk seasons. I'm an exception, I rarely shoot my bow from Oct-Jan because I'm 'hooked on quack' and spend most weekends up to my knees in dirty water stalking the elusive mallard. Yes, there are compound (and trad) archers who will not pick a bow up until the day before they go hunting, but I'd say that his success rate will be much lower and somebody else who did not practice with a crossbow and took it hunting. If the scope was not knocked out of alignment, and the bolt is straight, the crossbow should hit the X spot with no practice. And archery gear will not.
Again, I'm not debating the pros/cons of crossbows, just trying to explain why as a bowhunter there is a knee jerk reaction to crossbows during archery season.
2.As for the scoped crossbow it isn’t appreciably more accurate than a compound if fired from the shoulder…. And the scope is only sighted in for a single distance… no multiple pins.. just guesses.. and Kentucky windage..

In all honesty I have not ever been busted by an animal of any kind during my draw back. I have hunted with everything from longbow to crossbow and I find all of it very fun and enjoyable. One thing I do know is this...If you want to destroy your enemy start a fight amongst its self and watch it burn down.... The anti's are loving this type of talk and arguments between hunters... I mean they are absolutely loving it !!!!!!
Can we actually look back at when this type of thread started and who started it ??? Or how about this why does it keep getting posted week in and week out??? Who continues to bring this argument question up every week or month??? And why, when it has been sliced in every direction it can be sliced....??????
Yet when it is brought up there are no less than 50 different arguments that can be easily copied and pasted into another site and used against hunters by the anti's....... Remember folks we do not know every person on this site and anything that is put into writing on here can be used else where without our permission... So if you wish to continue to give free ammo to the anti's keep posting negative things on threads about hunting methods and who should and should not be allowed to hunt here and there and at this time of year...And watch it all burn down.... They are out there and they spy on these sites daily for their ammo..... And a lot of folks on here hand it out freely ever day....
