I read somewhere that with many people out of work the demand for less expensive cuts has gone up. Could be why less brisket. Being ground up for hamburger as other have mentioned.

Hopefully people will be more aware going forward how dang hard it is to grow good good brisket and stuff that I like eat... I'm not holding my breath.

Wendy’s isn’t selling hamburgers in some locations for crying out loud
They also had only 1 brisket and it was 4.99/pound. Last week I paid 2.99/pound and had probably 10 to choose from.

Yes it is tight as food service comes back into the supply chain and while plants are cleaning, but that is a very short term issue.
If the HEB guy said it will be months....he's an idiot.
Please do not contribute to the panic, news media is enough.
He could be totally wrong too but said plants will be operating at 50% capacity. Only issue would be caused by panic buying. Hence, the purchasing restrictions. All the bins were full of brisket and they had plenty left in the back. I bought one for $3.49/lb

If the plants are only running at 50% and that provides enough meat for everyone..Then why where they running double that before?
If plants are really running at 50% the meat will run out..period. I think this may be over hyped BS again. But I have no idea how many plants are running... am not a butcher..or a commodity trader

This is really nothing new to the San Antonio area
Week #1 was in sam’s club and panic buying was starting, people where emptying out the sam’s meat department, and TP , bottle water. Total pandemonium, finally the fire marshal showed and cleared the entire store and made every one leave and get in a line
Week 3 wife ordered some meat from H-E-B and every cut was a substitute Different from the order
So this Was totally expected , when cactus Texas has the highest covid19 rate per capita
In the state meat processing industry is hurting
