I love a good burger and have traveled some distance to eat one. My top 5 in North Texas and in no particular order….

Lucy’s - Celina
One and Only - McKinney
Burger Pop - Seagoville
Bells - Pleasant Grove

Flat top crust on both sides should be 25 percent of the burger by size. The other 75 percent should be juicy center with a touch of pink. Bun should be fresh and sturdy enough to hold up against the juices that should be flowing. Pretzel, milk, and brioche are all good bun options IMO. They should also be buttered and grilled. Toppings should be fresh and should not exceed the thickness of the burger itself.

Galaxy B&B Killeen. All kinds of interesting combinations based on Star Wars, but overall basic burger is just plain good. Belton area, Crows (if they are still open) and believe it or not hands down best is burger in the area is at the fishing pier at Stillhouse Hollow Lake Marina.

Dang. I hadn’t thought about getting a burger at the marina in quite a spell. I need to fix that.

Not my neck of the woods, but the best burger I ever had in my life was at Pat Collins Bar, Adare, Ireland. No pic of the burger as I was too busy devouring it, but the appetizer was hard to beat too...

Blue's Burger down in Dallas off Mockingbird is my favorite at the moment. They have an enchilada burger that is pretty crazy. I havent ordered it, but have had a bite. Weirdly good.

Local Yocal in McKinney also has a great burger on their menu - the Hamilton.

Burton Short Stop and Orsak’s in Fayetteville.

Hands down, best burger I still think is Hubcap Grill in Houston.

They don’t even have a close second.

That being said, my favorite burger is the Big Dirty at Jax Hamburger in Liberty, TX.

Jax Burgers and Fries are outstanding. They've got several locations around Spring and Tomball.

There's a place in Spring called the 5 Ate Café that folks around swear by. I've never been but it gets rave reviews.

Only ate at the one in Tomball, they were good. They are closed now.
