Property taxes are definitely out of control.
Uncle Theif took 30% of my paycheck and I haven’t done my taxes yet so it may be more.
Don’t mind paying my fair share but this ain’t fair!

Serious question. Do property taxes stay in the county for schools, roads, etc? I have no clue.

I paid social security for 6 years before I became a police officer for the city of San Antonio then did 30 more years with our own pension, thru out the years I workd several side jobs security equipment escort and such and found out I have enough quarters to get my ss when the time comes . but since I had a good job with a pension I'm only entitled to a small portion of whatever I was gonna get from ss. kinda disheartening work hard get screwed . do nothing get rewarded free cell phones , child care utilities paid free lunches ,etc etc etc. ok rant over

I dont know either, but my county says they are broke and cant keep up with road maintenance. I called county commissioner when we got all that rain and asked if he could have a blade go down our road and fix the washboard as it was so rough, you could not go past idle with a trailer. "Well we just have a lot of bad roads" he said.

Funny though, the county road going by his house was paved two years ago and it is smooth.

Now the school in Floresville has a heck of a football stadium, sure is purty.

Redistribution. For sure. For the greater good? Debatable in many cases. What passes for government / public necessities amazes me.

Now that's a good question. If the taxes I pay go to the county then I'd feel a little better about paying them.... a little.

The CADs and their minions have to get the fat salary and raises each year they are paid. Do a little research on the cad employees and what their property appraises for compared to comps. It’s an eye opener.

Yes. They stay within your county. You can typically go to your appraisal district’s site and see the breakdown of the taxing entities. Mine are:

                    -County appraisal district
                    -emergency service district
                    -County hospital
                    -County college
                    -mud
                    -ISD

I don’t to research it, I don’t think my pressure valve can take it.

Is the local appraisal district controlled by the county commissioners are the county judge? Just curious.

The appraisal guys took a beating here. They are not the problem the county and school comes up with a budget ( and they both waste a ton of money) and it is the chief appraiser job is to appraise the county property to meet their budget. You need to attend the school board meetings and the county commissioner meetings to express your concerns. I was on the appraisal review board and very few people understood how the taxes are set. Yeah they are too high and the school wastes will make you throw up. Our school feeds certain students breakfast, lunch, snack and a meal at the end of school for free and they throw a majority of it in the trash. Wonder why so many kids are so fat and out of shape.

                            Even worse is this,
My wife's grandparents built and paid off a house on lake LBJ back in the 60's. Their property tax was about 3000 a year and was fixed at that rate because they were older than 65. When they died they left it to their daughter. Since it changed ownership she now pays 11k a year. It should be a crime to make anyone with a home of any value pay 11k or more a year in taxes. All property taxes should be capped at 2k for everyone.

I agree this is thievery. I honestly think that “property tax” should not exist. They should be able to charge you a tax on the value you purchase a house for and the also the next person who purchases the house. That’s it! Just like everything else.

tell how an appraiser can go on your property photograph ,measure and collect evidence to be used in a civil proceeding against you and circumvent the U.S.Constitution . tell me it doesnt happen, when you go to the board and they have photos of the inside of your home telling you well you have granite counters tile floors etc
