Several comments about alloy bats “cracking”, specifically Cat 7. I guess I didn’t know you could crack an alloy bat....dent, yes.

My son is 12 and hits the Cat 7 30” -8. Probably bump up to a 31” or maybe -5 mid season sometime. He’s 5’2” 105lbs.

Sorry Heath. He used to hit the banned Zen and then the Omaha but he likes the Cat 7 now. The LS composite last year had no pop according to him. Heard mixed reviews about the new Zen which is disappointing since I sitill have a voucher.

Heath do you deal with softball bats too? My daughter is 12u (11yr old) and will be needing a new bat this year

Yes, I’m a manufacturer rep for Wilson Sporting Goods which owns DeMarini and Louisville Slugger. I don’t sell to the public only sporting good stores.

I understand. Just looking for some insight on what’s good on the market for her. Currently with a 29 -12 but gonna have to move up to probably a 30 because it’s getting to be a little short for her swing.

USA bats suck, but it is what it is. My 11 year old is swinging the Easton Ghost X Hyperlight. Seems like a good choice until DeMarini comes out with a USA CF Zen.

USA Zen is coming out tomorrow but the smallest size is 30”. The best USA bat is the LS Solo. Most stores are already sold out and it’s on backorder until late April. I have dominated the competitors with that bat at demos. My second go to is LS Omaha. It has sold / demoed really well too.

My soon to be 13 year old is swinging a 32” drop -3 Zen in practice and will swing a 32” Cat 7 -5 in games.

Will there be smaller ones made? My little man needs a 29”.

My boys have been swinging Demarini for a while. Currently in their bags:

                      14U
2017 Demarini CF Zen -5 33/28 (current gamer)
                      2018 Demarini CF Insane -3 BBCOR 33/30
2018 Demarini Voodoo Balanced -3 33/30 (cold weather bat)
                      Marucci Cutch 22 Maple -3 33/30

The drop 5 zen is his tourney bat and it has mad pop, it drops bombs. He swings the BBCOR bats in BP to get ready for HS. The end loaded BBCOR Zen and the balanced Voodo have about the same balance profile and these will be his gamer and cold weather bat going into HS ball next year.

                      11U (plays 12U)
Demarini CF8 -8 31/23 (new old stock gamer)
Marrucci Cat 7 -8 31/23 (cold weather bat)
Marrucci Cutch 22 youth model Maple -5 30/25

When the 2017 Zen got banned and I found a guy with new old stock CF8's and bought him a 30/20 to finish out Spring and 31/23 to move up to. I sold the 30/20 green CF8 for enough to cover what I paid for the original 30/20 And the 31/23 and the Marrucci The CF line of Demarinis has had the best pop on the market since the CF8 hit. I was afraid the 2018 Zen would be neutered after the 2017 ban but from what I have seen of it that didn't happen with the 2018 bats.

Both boys work with the wood bats in BP to get the feedback they miss from swinging the high end two piece bats that take a lot of the sting out of miss hit balls.

The USA deal has made things hard on my 7 yr old. He is tiny and the smallest I can find is 27 15 Easton S450 with no barrel. Last year he did ok with a 25 13 Mako with the 2 3/4 barrel. Just seems like there are not any choices for the smaller kids.

There is definitely a missing gap in sizes for kids like yours. This is a really hard standard for us to get bats to pass and we just couldn’t get anything to pass we wanted to put our name on in those small sizes.

The bat you have is the best option. The 27/17 LS Omaha and DeMarini Uprising 27/17 is our smallest bats. The Dema Uprising has a 2.5” barrel so it’s a good barrel length.

What organization does he play in that would allow a 2 3/4" last year and now requires a USA compliant bat?

I purchased the Dema Uprising and let him swing it and it’s just too heavy for him. It will be going back. It felt like it would swing lighter than the LS but that was in my hands. Appreciate you chiming in.
