Forgot to mention that this year he will be playing Orwall baseball in The Woodlands. It’s stacked against him this spring. First time hitting off a machine and the new bat regs. Last fall was his first time playing. He had his player evaluation yesterday and struck out, but most of the kids did. What ya gonna do lol.

The bat you have is the best option. The 27/17 LS Omaha and DeMarini Uprising 27/17 is our smallest bats. The Dema Uprising has a 2.5” barrel so it’s a good barrel length.
My youngest plays in a USA league and I can’t find a 26” 2-5/8 anywhere.

My 11 yr old uses a 31" drop 8 with no issues. I would say my son is average height and build.

You won’t. The only thing 26in will be a tee ball bat. At least that’s all I’ve seen.

I'm glad we don't have to switch to USA! My kid is crushing the 27" Combat maxim.

I have never seen a Cat6 or 7 crack. I have seen a really strong kid snap one in half just above the handle, but no cracks. Not going to say it can't happen, but from what I have seen the CATs have been one of the most durable bats I have seen. Now the hex is a different story. We have always used DeMarini CF bats, when you buy one you just have to realize you are buying two. The first will break but they stand by with their warranty replacements. I have yet to see a bat that equals it in pop. We did try an Easton Beast last season, but it did not compare to the CFs in pop IMO. With the high end USA bats we have tried so far you can take off anywhere from 10-30 ft distance with hits. But that is to be expected with the new standards. My son did get to try a new USSSA 918 the other day. He said he liked the feel but would not give up his CF for it. If the CF8 was legal at the time they should of just kept making that. It was by far the best one they made IMO.

My 13yo, soon to be 14yo plays select baseball and will begin playing on the incoming freshmen high school team this summer. He hits whatever I buy him, which is whatever is on clearance at justbats or baseballmonkey. Right now he's using a $199 Combat -5 that they had on clearance for $69. I spend more money than I should on all of the baseball BS that goes on these days so he gets what he gets, which are good bats, but I buy what's on sale within reason. I've seen way, way too many below average kids who couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat swinging $300+ bats. I focus more on mechanics and him getting the work in than what's on the barrel of the bat. Before calling me a hater, I grew up playing baseball and played in high school so I love the game, just not a lot of what its become.

PS - If anyone is looking for a great glove at a good price, check out 44Pro gloves. They are completely custom from top to bottom, kip leather, etc... My son has played with one for the past two years and its been an awesome glove. He's about outgrown it so he got a new one for Christmas. They have 15-25% off sales a few times throughout the year, making them about $130-150, which is a steal for that quality glove. Their top of the line gloves are on par with A2000's at half the price.

Anybody swinging a Dirty South bat? I bought a USSSA bat 2 years ago for my oldest son based off some feedback from some friends in San Antonio. They were real popular with the kids off that Little League team that went to the World Series when they were playing open base select ball. At any rate, it was a "hot" bat. I saw that Dirty South was now making a USSSA stamped bat and was curious. I am so tired of cracked Easton bats. Maybe the Ghost will hold up better. Interesting on the USA Zen. I will take a look at them as well.

I kid on our team had a DSB, the Swag I think, and nobody liked it. It is currently on the rack at the cage.

Anyone switching over to USA or kids outgrown their bats, I would be interest in used, good shape USSSA stamped bats. Got 2 boys (9 and 12) going through more equipment than I can keep up with. Shoes out grown ever 8-10 months and let’s not talk about gloves since I got 1 lefty and 1 righty.

I’d be interested in taking a look at anything along theses lines:
                              9 year old: 2 5/8” barrel 28” -12 To -10
                              12 year old: 2 5/8 or larger barrel : 30”-31”. -10 To -8

We’ve swung mainly 1 piece alloy bats the last few years due to balance feel and my feeling that neither of my boys strong enough to get benefit of composite. Saying that, I’d consider one for my 12year old now. PM me if you have something along those specs. Thanks Coach
