Tracking dog

Try Wayne Zoch out of Bastrop. He might come out, and he has one heck of a good tracking dog, a Blue Lacy. 51, 27, 73, 5895. He drove out to Hearne to look for a deer I shot. He charges a little, but he was reasonable to me.

I disagree, that is not a shoulder shot, its behind the shoulder, it would jus have been better if it was touch further back.

I think its a dead deer, good luck this morning.

I could be wrong but I think he was referring to hitting the off shoulder...

I hit a deer in almost the same spot about 10 days ago. I hit him and backed out for a few hours. I went back in with my dog. We found the arrow about ten feet in. There was a decent amount of blood. About 400 feet into the track we bumped the deer. He got up and took off. ****. I backed out. 8 hours later we went back. My dog tracked it for about 1/2 mile. I called off the track after it jumped a fence onto some other land owners property. I couldn't get permission to access the land. Fast forward a week and the deer shows up on my game camera.

Put me in the "he's dead" camp. Finding him may be another story, but that's a pretty good hit in my opinion.

I see dead buck with this shot. I agree with what somewhat said above, I'm betting you hit the off side shoulder and the arrow backed out a little, and then broke off. If he was licking his nose, you hit lung. And if it was dark red blood you more than likely got some artery and he will die fast.
