I bet you'll find him. I'd for sure take your bow with you. I went and helped one of my buddies try to find a doe,he got one lung and she was alive and well enough to still run through some rough country 12 hours after being shot.

Good luck man. Let us know.
You did good. "When in doubt, back out!"
Yea he ducked about 3 inches but the hit also knocked his front end all the way to the ground so he is on his way down in that first pick.

After what I witnessed in Nebraska last year I learned that venison doesn't spoil as easy as I always believed...
Long story short.
I went on a mule deer hunt. It was HOT. Records highs. Mid 80's during the day and 40's at night. The landowner shot a buck the first day. We hung it in a barn and I skinned him.. 2 days later this buck is still hanging in this barn, in the 80+ degree heat during the day, so I decided to ask the land owner what his plan for this deer was. He said "we are going to eat him". I'm letting him age.......... I said "alrighty then" thinking the whole time that this dude is nuts.. I later slipped in the barn and cut a plug of meat out to smell it to see if it was spoiling.. To my amazement it had no odor at all.. Hmm.
Later that night he cooked up the backstraps and I ate some.. It was some of the best tasting venison that I have ever ate.. True story..

Im guessing dead and you made the right decision. How about another still shot of right before he ducked? Agree with some others that I usually aim for exit. Also if he was licking and shaking his head thats because blood was coming out of his nose and he was shaking and licking trying to make it quit. (In my opinion) It doesnt take a ton of penetration and that ramcat was doing major damage every step he took. Probably hurt less when he stood still which is why you witnessed him standing there for 10 minutes. Good luck buddy hope you get him

If there is as much blood spray as you described, I can't imagine it any other way than an arterial wound, in which case he will have bled out relatively quickly

Here you go. Right before he started ducking. He actually brought his right leg forward a lot when he started ducking before the arrow hit.

With a dog, you'll find that deer... He's dead. Arrow went through and hit off side shoulder and backed out before being broken off. Deer licking his nose/mouth is bleeding out the mouth/nose. That means when he's exhaling, he's blowing fine mist droplets of blood. A good, even descent dog can pick that up really well. It's blood you'd likely never see. The entry point is about dead center of the "deadly V"... Ain't no way you missed both lungs and likely center punched the on side lung unless he was quartering really heavy. Meat will still be good in the morning, but if it were me, I'd be there now with a dog... Be a shame to lose that deer's meat to yotes... Good luck!
