He bugged them until they took it off the bill. He makes them account for every charge. Even stuff the insurance covers. If they gave him ten pills he wants a copy of the inventory sheet and charts showing he actually received them. Its a bit much for me. The hospitals know people are not going to take the time to dig into their bills.
Do this. We did this when my daughter was born and saw things scary on the list like kidney removal

I think by law they have to give you a list if you ask. Tell them you want the list to check and then you will pay.

Yep, they rack them up as high as possibly and hope people pay.

Next time they call tell them you will send them something right away, then send them the Cease Comm letter on page 201.

      Dear Debt Collection Agency:

This will serve as your legal notice under federal law, the Fair Debt
Collection Practices Act, to cease all communication with me in reference
      to the above account.

If you fail to heed this notice, I will file a formal complaint against

      be severe.

Laying the boom down on them. Maybe I was wrong about not getting green screen credit advice.

You should also tell them that you are a member in good-standing with the GOF club on the Green Screen and if they don't cease and desist, you'll file a complaint with the GOF, and they'll have to bear the consequences! That'll send 'em runnin' for cover!

For sure, I'd tell 'em to go pound sand!

Oh yea, and send 'em your avatar pic!

Froggy nailed it. So did crawdaddct.

My Mother had some hospital bills from some tests the doctor made her take and she got a stupidly high bill. I looked at it and it showed nothing that would indicate where the $12K went or what it was for.

I contacted the hospital and asked for an itemized detailed billing and I never got it. She never got another bill and took no hit on her credit.

Don't mess with those people at collection agencies. Do what Froggy showed you and you'll be fine.

How old does one need to be? I'm about as grumpy as they come and retired, but hanging in there under 50. Do I have to keep waiting?

Most of us wish we were still under 50.

A good amount of rants is a good start.

I just dealt with a local hospital last month. Our daughter had some issues and got a large hospital bill (and doctor bill, and x-Ray tech bill, and ***xx bill, ect.). We could not afford to pay it off so we paid a small amount to it each month. After 1 year had gone by then they would take a fraction of the remaining balance as a pay off. But, they would not do anything if the account was less than a year old.
