After my first month or so teaching upper elementary Science:
"Bill, I've had some complaints from parents about your classroom discipline. You might want to start using the paddle more."

      Two weeks after that:
"Bill, I've had some complaints from parents about your classroom discipline. You might want to let up on the use of the paddle."

I finally figured out what I was doing.

You didn't sign your birth certificate.

Your not going to sign your death certificate.

        Don't sign much in between!

Plan your work, work your plan.

Oh, I'm not doing my job right? Ok, then come show me...

I had one boss who always had (what he thought was good ideas) He'd implement a new policy or requirement... They only lasted a few days until the warm fuzzy feeling wore off, then it was back to business as usual.

Poor planning on your part doesn't constitute an emergency on mine.

One question I've had to ask three times over the years when it came time to make a job change, "can you put a dollar value on my quality of life?"

Well done is better than well said.

My 1st Field Captain at TDC way back in 1980 had the best I ever heard. Told me once"Boy,remember the Good Lord gave you 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason. You need to always listen twice as much as you talk. He was a man of few words but when he spoke you listened. RIP Captain Powell.

most satisfaction I ever got out of a particular job,,, my response was a big grin and I told him thank you, that's the best thing that will ever happen to me here, getting fired from this hole.....
I was hired for a single purpose, over the course of a year he fired 4 other employees and gave me there duties and wondered why nothing was ever completed,,,, walking out the door I told him" have fun with those 2, 40' box trailers with stock this week!!... to my satisfaction he was fired 2 weeks later,,,

Bobby, you could be running this whole place in 5 years. But I can tell you're not happy. Go do what you want to do and you'll be good at it.

Shut up and get back to work.

I'm paying you from the chin down.

                          I learned from bad bosses.

Buy as much insurance as you can afford. When you can afford more.... buy more. - mean old millionaire

Hated the guy. He was smart though.
