OP, I think Bulleit bourbon is excellent for the money. Maybe $40 a bottle or so? Agree with the comments here that a guy who drinks a lot of Crown may not care for Scottish whisky. Nothing wrong with Crown—it's just different than single malts.

That’s a good idea but I like that I have a bottle that is only ever brought out for special occasions. My wife got me a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue for graduation and so far it’s only been poured from when I graduated and on our wedding day
