I know this may not be in the budget but I think 2 bottles makes a better statement and would be enjoyed. I know that if I were to get one bottle for my wedding, I would simply put it up for another important occasion later down the road. Maybe it's just me?

He can put one up for an anniversary or birth of a child and enjoy the other with his friends and family.

That’s a good idea but I like that I have a bottle that is only ever brought out for special occasions. My wife got me a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue for graduation and so far it’s only been poured from when I graduated and on our wedding day

I picked up a bottle of Basil Hayden on a recommendation. It was pretty solid. $40 - 50. I usually drink 1835.

Crown makes a special reserve that comes in a white box. It's about $50 a bottle. That would be a great choice as well.

This is even better. The only bad thing about the XR is when it is empty, It is very smooth. I bought a bottle for a special occasion and have bought 4 more since. Way too expensive for an every day drink, But I keep some around. Nice straight up with a good cigar
