OP, Macallen, or any of the older "15+ years, single malt, single cask" whiskeys. Glenfeddich is another good one. So is Glenlivet.

Blended whiskeys are just that. Blended down with possibly several cask, whiskeys (possibly from different distilleries), and water, to achieve a certain taste.

Here's a link to try to simplify the basic understanding of it a bit more. It doesn't pertain to just scotch.

I like the 2 bottle idea above
All three. Especially the "what" part . Plus much smoother depending the selection. And don't make ya feel like crud the next morning. We need to get together for a campfire sometime brother.

There's cheap stuff, drink-n stuff, memorable stuff, and then the stuff I only share with close friends.

He can put one up for an anniversary or birth of a child and enjoy the other with his friends and family.
I think that's a really good idea as well. Good point.

I have grown partial to Garrison Brothers, among a few others, but after I buy them, I hate to see the empty bottle!

                          Garrison Brothers is very good.

If he's a Crown guy look into Fourty Creek Double Barrel Reserve. ~$80 for a 750ml bottle. I prefer it over any of the Crown "reserves".

I was able to pick up a bottle of Cowboy, but I can't make myself pop it. Probably will save for a special occasion, like...dove season opener!
