Lake Kemp is indeed on Waggoner property but Kroenke has not sent those residents the "boot" letter. The "boot" letter was sent to Lake Diversion residents.

Man I don't know, most of the homes that i seen on Diversion were trailers and such, looked like weekenders to me for the most part, I am not taking up for the new owner but anyone who would build a home on leased land without a 99 year lease is just not very smart. I own two ranches that border the Waggoner, we have a property line issue on one of them, been trying to work it out for several years, no luck with the Waggoners, maybe the new owner will cooperate with us, hopefully the folks at Diversion all make out some how.

That was simply a sarcastic dig. He earned his money be can spend where and how he likes.

I believe rtp hit the nail on the head, the previous owner should have deeded them their place but most likely never envisioned something like this happening.

Like Nick said, their houses equate to a postage stamp in a city block or less.

But like I said it's his dirt, you by the book tough guys flame on.

Those who say that these people were stupid to build there have obviously never had experience with these giant ranches - it was (and still is) a very common practice for these big ranches to do this for workers' families. The sad fact is that you can't trust your kids or grandkids to uphold your promises or the values that built the legacy they get handed! The King and many other ranches do the same thing. These people got jacked by some rich people for no valid reason. I'm so sick of people justifying bad behavior because "it's legal!" Just because something is legal doesn't always make it right! This is one of those situations good people who built and maintained that ranch were backhanded by the law.

I'm sure you have more insight than I do but having lived in the area for the last 40 years, I don't believe many of the residents being evicted or their families ever had anything to do with working on or for the ranch in any capacity? These are residents of Lake Diversion which is a solid 45 minute drive from the ranch headquarters in today's time. Who knows how long it took 90 years ago when these leases first began? These are people who chose to build homes on lakefront property that they did not own. Many lake properties are built on leased ground but it's typically leased from a governmental entity such as a city, state, river authority, etc rather than a private landowner as in this case. I feel deeply for the Lake Diversion residents. When you build on leased property, the letter that they recently received is your worst nightmare. They are good, hard working people who made a very bad decision. They could certainly use more prayers and help than anything else right now.

There aren't many houses around lake Deversion. But if Kemp gets the boot letters there will be alot of people losing alot of houses and equipment. Our lease borders the Wag. We met the new pasture cowboy in April along the fence. He said that the new owners were making alot of changes. One included cutting cowboys and adding more cattle. We are only about 6 miles as the crow flies from Lake diversion. Lots of critters around that lake.

I don't think the law cares whether you are a Yankee, greedy or a spoiled brat. This is one of the things that makes Texas and the USA great. I can't see how anyone was "backhanded by the law" as was previously stated.

I hope those displaced families leave peacefully, and somehow find a way to make a life again. God bless them.

Anyone know if the ranch manager was let go? I figured it would be just a matter of time before they do. Or maybe my guess was wrong?

I had read that everything was going to be kept the same, so much for that theory.

The people who leased the place we hunt on before us built a nice cabin on a slab instead of buying trailers. We (the next lessors) are now enjoying a nice hunting cabin.

Same thing happens on deer leases every year. You hunt the lease, like it, fix or build a camp..... Next thing u know..... Sold! Don't get too attached to things you don't own. Even if you own them their is still eminent domain some people have to deal with and that is really crappy.
