    Waggoner Ranch residents getting booted

LA Rams owner Stan Kroenke bought the $750mil Waggoner ranch and has given the long time residents until Jan 2017 to pack their things and leave. It's a tough spot. I feel for the residents who have raised generations there and are now served eviction letters, but at the same time if I spent $750m on a property I wouldn't want strangers on it. It also sounds like Kroenke made some promises that weren't kept.

If I spent that much I would tell them they had till sundown to get out.

I have mixed feelings about that. He doesn't need the money, so why not just deed the properties to the owners and let them be. But in the other hand, I wouldn't want people on my land either. Tough situation, and I don't know if there is a right answer

"We can't pick up a rock home that was built in 1926, that we poured our lifetime savings into, that was our retirement home,"

Don't build your home on land you don't own.

Jan 2017 is more than generous!

He doesn't owe them anything. If they want to feel slighted they should feel that towards the previous owners that sold.

If the previous owners didn't see a need to deed them the land around their houses before they sold it, why should a new owner with no connection to them be expected to do so? He owes them nothing.

There will be some very hard feelings and possibly some blood spilled over this. Say what you will, but there are a lot of people at the lake that never had any reason to think their lease would ever go away. And, some might have nothing else to lose, once evicted.

They chose to build their homes on land that they didn't own - that is the chance you take

You guys are some heartless people...I really applaud they way you back a yankee buying the largest ranch in Texas.

It's his dirt and his call but I do hate to see those people displaced.

I feel for the people being evicted. Some of those families have raised generations there. But I could never build a house on land I didn't own unless it had a ridiculously long lease with a stipulation that I couldn't be evicted in the event of a change in ownership.

Good point I guess. The Waggoners should have taken care of this prior to the sale. Still stinks for those people

Is Lake Kemp included in this, I thought I remembered hearing that lake was on the Waggoner.

I definitely feel sorry for the owners and the time they have had.

That being said, if he bought the property, it is his.

I still dont understand the thought process behind building retirement / permanent homes on a leased property.
