It is unfortunate for those who thought they might live there forever, but I don't see how anyone can feel entitled to something they never owned. And I don't feel heartless for feeling that way.

I guess if you bought your dream hunting ranch, you would let the previous deer leasees stay and hunt?

Yankee or not, he put up the money and bought the rights to do as he pleases.

"but I don't see how anyone can feel entitled to something they never owned"

Entitled is the key here--they didn't buy it, didn't pay for it, but think they should get it. Lots of folks around like this today.

The previous owner should have dealt with this and not put it on the new owner. The new owner owes them nothing and is being generous with the amount of time he is giving them to find other arrangements. Sad deal and I feel for those involved but when it comes to big money, emotions and feelings dont have a part.

Sad deal all around. There are some poor folks who have made homes out there and they can't afford to start over. I hate to see people displaced like this but I also don't understand the reasoning of building something as permanent and pricey as a house on land you don't own.

So your prejudice says that if a Texan bought it it'd be OK, but because he's not from here, he's wrong?

                This was pretty predictable.

I'm not heartless, I'm practical. If you bought a house that was previously rented, would you let the renters stay in your spare room because they built an entertainment center?

As far as him being a yankee, I had no idea. What I do know is that he is the rightful landowner in the State of Texas and that carries a helluva lotta weight.

I too hate to see those folks displaced, but they made a horrible personal and business decision in building their permanent residence on someone else's land, especially in Texas, where property owner's rights are stronger than horseradish.

The Waggoners, if they were concerned, could have carved that land out for those folks before the sale, but chose not to. I honestly don't see how anyone could blame the man that bought it.

I will add that when i used to dream about owning a ranch one day, i had decided i would make it a condition of purchase that the seller did all the dirty work of running off hunters, renters, etc. On the day i took possession i would have a clean slate to work with.

Can't believe he worked hard and made billions of dollars so he can afford to buy a ranch and do as he pleases with it. That's like soooooo un-American of him.

It's not their property, so they gots to go.

I wouldn't have gave them as long as he did.

Waggoners have been talking about selling the ranch for years. It's been held up in court. They had time to plan. Another piece of opinionated crap reporting by the media. And I hate Walmart.

I've got some land to lease if someone wants to build a home. We can just start out with a yearly lease to begin with. I might renew it after the first year. Trust me.
