Op did great i dont kbow how i would have handled as i never give money to those people.Bad thing is they will keep robbing people till they get caught or killed.I hope the first guy that decides to stop them has the drop also because they probably dont value human life.

Luckily it didn't go that way for you , but you have to remember , most of the time and this might not have been that time, drop the 1st one and the others are just hoping they can get out of there. I'm by no means saying I would or wouldn't do things differently. You came out of it the right way. Safe and no issues. You did good.

$10 is a lot cheaper than a lawyer.

I haven't read it in about 35 years but in Massad Ayoob's book on his self defense, In Gravest Extreme, he wrote something about this situation. He mentioned that he carried a few dollars wrapped around a matchbook in his pocket. If he was ever robbed on the street, when a guy asked for money Ayoob said that he would toss the match book on the ground. The bad guy would likely reach for the money and Ayoob would beat a hasty retreat.

I don't know if that would work but his explanation was that 5 $1 bills and a $5 bill on the outside would be well worth the expense. To spend $10 to stay out of a deadly force incident is worth the cost. If I remember correctly, Ayood was a police officer, had shot a couple of people and also was a competition shooter. He is reported to be a fairly accomplished shooter that has actually been in a gunfight or two. With those skills and the very good likelihood of winning in a gunfight, he basically claimed that getting out of the deadly force incident alive and with no shots fired was better than "winning" in many circumstances.

Being completely prepared to shoot and win if needed is very important but not as important as going home safely without having to kill someone.
