    What would you have done...

This weekend at the AJRA finals in Sweetwater, I had a unique experience . After Riley ran Friday night , I got back to the Hampton Inn around 11:00 or so. The front and side lots were full so I had to park in the back, which is poorly lighted. I backed into a parking spot (F350 four wheel drive). As I was gathering things to take up to the room, while in the truck, I look up and noticed a white car pulled up in front of me ... At this point I locked the doors and pulled my pistol from console and laid in my lap. I observe three Mexicans/Hispanics in the car blocking me in. The driver gets out and approaches my window... I roll it down half 3/4....

    Me: y'all need something?

    Mexican : yeah money.

    Me: yeah what for?

    Mexican: gas money to Abilene?

    Me: $10 get ya there?

    Mexican : maybe

Me: that's all I can spare and hand him $10

Mexican see's the pistol and I ask him if we're cool he says yes ... I said you sur and he nodded and drove off... F'ed up world today

      ...or best $10 ever spent.

Could have come back to a trashed vehicle or who knows what...you used your instincts & it all worked out. Don't sweat it, bank the experience & keep using your situational awareness.

Far as I ca see, it was an excellent move with a great result.

Maybe so, but that $10 may have kept things from escalating into something really bad really fast.

10 bucks now... or 500 later for the deductible after insurance estimates window damage and loss of contents. I think they got the message and you didnt have to spend the next 4 hours giving the local PD a detailed account of why they are working a shooting.

With all the stories I read about folks asking for money and then getting violent when they don't get any I think you did exactly what was needed to diffuse the situation.

I'd say I'm just as poor as everyone else. Sorry I can't help.

I think it was $10 worth of piece of mind for the night.

Good thing you didn't have to sift through a roll of 20's to get a single bill out....

Hate that you had to do it but it beats having your truck vandalized where the hotel would have done nothing for you.

$10 well spent imo. If it keeps it from escalating in any way it was worth it

Ten dollars was a very cheap "out".
If you had a bad feeling then I have a bad feeling about that situation.
                        Money well spent, I say.
I get the feeling he wasn't terribly concerned about the gun.
He weighed his opinions and moved on, imo.

What the gearing in 4Lo on an F350? I'm sure it wouldn't have batted an eye had you felt the need to go through the car to find another spot.

Pistol would've made just as easy work, I'm sure.

This is the second thread with a situation like this tonight. Stay vigilant.
