I think this is precisely why they put the separation in there. To keep the campfire nice for everyone.

As passionate as I am about politics, I have just decided to stay out of the fray for the most part this time around. Too painful, frustrating and maddening and I feel totally unable to say anything that would be remotely constructive or sway opinion. Lots of people with strongly held yet unexamined views.

That's a pretty generalized statement about other people's views. You surely can't actually believe your the only one who's views are examined. They may differ from yours but none the less as important. If you're so experienced why not run for something and make a change instead of putting people down your highness.

It's a unhappy place right now, not just on any forum. Radio,tv,internet,etc.

My daughter grew up (literally) lurking with my wife on site......now she is 18. They saw a thread during the Dallas shooting and were shocked at how people were talking on a "global" public forum. I wont give any specifics but they were concerned that I was even on this site anymore.

There's a good reason why people say to avoid politics and religion in conversation.

Your spot on! Honestly, my goal in the majority of my responses is to put a halt to "broad brush" statements and observe how grown men act when WE get hit square in the face with a shovel.

It's very unhappy all around, and yes, I'm fearful for what's going to happen as well. It's exhausting, though, to come on here at times and see the recent threads, and the back and forth comments degrading one another.

Let's be men and disagree/debate on politics and broadheads. But disrespecting one another is not one of the original characteristics of this site.

This type of non-sense is REALLY new ground around here. I was always taught it is a lack of vocabulary when people do that in a debate/discussion or simple disagreement.....or just folks with "poor home training" as my great grandmother would say when we were kids. We all can loose our cool on occasion, but just a post degrading someone? WTHeck is that?

I'm not so sure about that now with the way people are blasting others all over this place.

I'm not saying it needs to be sunshine and daisies around here; friction is always inevitable with such a large group. But I feel the wisdom of "quick to listen, slow to speak" has left town, and I'm not so sure hunting season can get here any sooner.

At this point, I'm reluctant to eliminate political discussion until after the election in November, but after reading through some of the posts tonight (and doling out A BUNCH of infractions), I'm about ready to pull the plug now. I'm afraid politics and divisive issues have no place here. I'd almost prefer this be a sanctuary FROM the norm.

If I was you I would just stay away from the threads that ignite the fire and bring you down! If it's too much just go to a different thread. There's plenty of people willing to talk about hunting and other related topics.

I thought it was a great idea to let it have its own forum. When all of that was in the campfire I would view regularly and chime in with my thoughts. Now I rarely go over there because I have to make a conscience choice to do so. Hopefully the trouble makers can be weeded out and those that can have an adult conversation without name calling can continue to have a forum that is important to them.

It sure makes it easy to find trouble makers. I can't even read in that forum for all the bickering so I just stay away

I do not visit the political forum. Nothing interests me there. Now, if we could get the sports threads on their own forum..............
