    Very true. Troubling times and all of it is the talk of the town. Plus, it's an election year and arguably one of the most important elections of at least my lifetime (IMO).

    Deer season is getting close..

        I figured my statement might make me come across as an uppity fathead to some. So be it. You are right - this is America and everyone's opinion counts, no matter how they arrived at it. Some just regurgitate what they hear from their favorite talk show host. Others have taken the time and effort to develop a deep political philosophy and let their assumptions be challenged by reading the opinions of smart people who hold opposing views. It is not a matter of smart or dumb. I have a lot of friends who are smarter than me as far as pure intellectual firepower but have the knee jerk political views of the average 10th grader. They have never thought about it very hard because they are just not that interested.
        Politics just happens to be a passion of mine and I probably spend more time than I should thinking/reading about it. I would much rather have a conversation with a thinker with whom I disagree than someone I agree with whose entire thoughts would fit on a handful of bumper stickers. Once again, my opinions are not worth more than anyone else's - we all get one vote and they all count the same no matter how one comes to their conclusions.

            You are a raving elitist!!! LMAO........I surmise your response needs to be a sticky! Thanks for posting as it hits very close to home in how we view politics in our household.

              I figured I would get a great response out of you. Thank you for clarifying.

                What happens with myself is that I'll get on Tapatalk (Tapacrap for those who refer to it as such) and I go to the Unread section. I'll see a title that catches my attention, most often times it is a discussion of some kind about current events, and I get sucked in. I know it's mainly my own doing, and the thread starts out innocent enough. But recently, I will notice one or two sly remarks and then the wheels fall off. It just seems to be happening more often right now. Granted, there's a lot of current events right now worthy to comment on, so maybe once the dust settles, we will be back to mechanical vs fixed, KAP/KCA, tannerite videos, and Yeti/Rtic/Brute/Bison ice test posts.

                    Without a doubt the most emotional time in regards to politics (in my lifetime) and what I think is a very delicate balance on where this country is heading for my kids and grandkids.

                    Yes, it's kind of a tinder box at times, but not sure I can say tbh is a bad place for kids or am I willing to say the sub forum is a failure simply because we all knew 2016 would be said tinderbox. In the end, nobody has to click.

                    ~~~~~
                    I was kinda thinking about this as well...like stated, I'm really concerned about the whole picture holds for the future, but cannot help but go to my favorite 'what if' deal my mind always takes me on as a history buff. Seriously, if the www was available back in WWII times 'just for grins'. If the information was immediate & everywhere for our parents & grandparents to share their feelings at will & with little repercussions, what would tbh be like if the chatter was on Pearl Harbor, survivors of the bomb, or posts of the atrocities of the holocaust??
                    Imagine the the threads!!
                    Look, The events happening right now are bringing out the worst & best in folks...I don't know if tbh would be better or worse if this wasn't being tested, but I do try to appreciate the handful of extremely moving posts that show up from time to time...Like Oscar stated at some point, I hope a lot of this turmoil is all a flash in the pan & we have hopes of getting back on track are in the works for us all. The most amazing thing to me is to watch how some folks view the world as if we are not seeing things from the same view finder!! Hard for me to grasp some of the views that seem genuine.
                    How this election still has literally 50% of the voting public on opposite ends is mind boggling!! We are the greatest of all nations & we the people have two of the most bizarre, narcissistic, brazen, strange & colorful two candidates that it is beyond peculiar!! What are we doing & how did we get here?? How can we be so fortunate to live in a country to be able to freely discuss this most absurd & what I think is mostly & easily described as just a plain stupid election with a story line Hollywood would be proud.
                    I keep pinching myself, but cannot wake up...May the Good Lord have mercy on our nation.
                    Seems like a way off to the 2nd Tuesday in November...let us pray that no more evil is headed our way.
                    Nite gang...
                        another page I visit regularly put up a political/religious forum. they require that you sumit a request to a mod to join that forum (IE, its not an open forum) and they are quick to squash any topics that contain said material outside of that forum and harsh penalties are handed out for repeat offenders. this keeps most of the inflamitory content from being seen by kids ir those who dont want ir care to participate. there is more leeway for rougher discussion once you have access, but it has been the downfall for more members than any other forum in the page. while they give more leeway, they still do not allow personal attacks or vulgar language.
                        it has worked out wondefully.
                          Outrageous statements, conspiracy theories, etc. abound in our world today---
                          But, 72 days and a wake-up 'til opening day. Think I'll go trap some pigs tonight--
                            The Politics/Current Events forum was an experiment in this election year. More and more I think it is a failed experiment, although it's pretty much the same several that create most discontent. At this point, I'm reluctant to eliminate political discussion until after the election in November, but after reading through some of the posts tonight (and doling out A BUNCH of infractions), I'm about ready to pull the plug now. I'm afraid politics and divisive issues have no place here. I'd almost prefer this be a sanctuary FROM the norm.
                            I really like having the political forum if you're going to allow any political talk as don't have to look at it and never do except when it's headline news like lately and bleeds over to other forums like the campfire and the ranch.
                            If you ban all political talk and some people don't like it perhaps they'll look elsewhere.
                            Sadly I started a hunting thread (poorly titled) some 30 minutes ago and it has zero views...perhaps I'm using the wrong buzz words in the title...
                              Unfortunately, some of the users of the political forum really have no real responses and simply feel the need to act like a bully. Names and labels mean little to me, but seeing libtard thrown around so often is just kind of tiring. Is it not possible to debate without the need to label and degrade? There are some on that forum that I like to read their thoughtful responses (Mike D, etc.) but others just feel the need to sling insults. Seriously guys, our country was founded on the right to hold your own religious and political views. If someone disagrees, argue your point. But, understand that we are all human have our own experiences to dictate our views.
                                I'm not surprised. There's so much division in the country right now that it even trickles down to the chat rooms here on TBH.
