Yes, I am aware. I just would hope that those who get licensed have the common sense to seek out some additional training on how to safely carry etc. Ask most firearms instructors, as I have the couple I've used, that most assume they know far more than they do. I've been shooting since a kid, am now in my mid 40's, and love that I can learn new safety procedures/protocols etc almost everytime I take instruction.

Would you want your wife or grown child to carry a firearm without knowing how to be safe with it? No, you wouldn't. Don't make a ridiculous argument based on absolutes when this isn't even close to an absolute argument. Has nothing to do with the 2nd amendment.
Geesh, why do people of like interests try to bait each other into arguments?
No I wouldn't want my wife or kids carrying without being safe, nor do I want anyone else carrying without being safe, but its their right, plain and simple. It no different than requiring someone to take a civics class before voting. IMO there should be no CHL/LTC. Your can legally own a firearm, you can legally carry that firearm. Do i think we all need more gun safety? Sure. But not gov't required gun safety.

That said, there were a couple of women in my class that had either never shot or only shot like once. I recommend some familiarity with firearms before taking the class. But it's not a firearms class and wasn't meant to be.
Then carry a whistle and a flashlight
