Look, it is a fact that Mack Rhoades was UofH AD at the time of the Herman hire. However, he literally had half a foot out the door at the time. He left for Mizz 3 months after the hire. Heck, he didn't even play a pivotal role in the Herman hire. The 2 most instrumental people on getting Herman to UofH were the Chancellor and the Chairman of the BOR. Those 2 individuals are also the primary reason Herman is even still there today.
Mack was brought to UofH to raise money for the new stadium. He did that and the stadium got built. He did that at Akron as well, which was his previous job. That was his primary accomplishment. He made 2 bad hires with Tony Levine in football and James Dickey in b-ball. Sumlin was hired by the previous AD, Dave Maggard, so Mack didn't even get credit for that. Mack was very much a hit or miss AD. He did accomplish what he was primarily brought there for.
I don't think it's a bad hire for Baylor. Mack appears to have worn out his welcome at Mizz with all of the bad PR they have had these last several months. But to try and link that with a possibility of Baylor hiring Herman is almost laughable.
Bottom line, Herman will leave UofH at some point (maybe even after next season), but it will be for a blue blood program. He turned down South Carolina last year. This story also seems to leave out the fact that Mizz just hired a new coach after last season and Herman wasn't even a candidate. The link between Rhoades and Herman is pretty weak. It's just something to say to make the hire look better for Baylor.

While I don't have a lot of faith in Baylor hiring Herman, Herman was in Waco to discuss the possibility this week so read into that as much or as little as you like.
$$$$ for Baylor is no longer an issue. Whether or not Herman has interest in coaching there, we will find out. Like I said in an earlier post, there will be a lot of variables that will play in this.
