Edit: Just checked the magic 8 ball, it must be broken.

Asked if Texas would have a good season, "It is decidedly so".

Asked if the Aggies would have a good season, "My sources say no".

    Dang thing is definitely broken.

    What's broken about that?

I believe I have advised two fan bases in Texas they could get the whole Yabba Dabba Dabo package on separate occasions.

      16NCS,

I was through Tuscaloosa last night heading back from Atlanta. I thought of you, but we didn't have time to stop. Maybe next time we can share a beverage.

Look, it is a fact that Mack Rhoades was UofH AD at the time of the Herman hire. However, he literally had half a foot out the door at the time. He left for Mizz 3 months after the hire. Heck, he didn't even play a pivotal role in the Herman hire. The 2 most instrumental people on getting Herman to UofH were the Chancellor and the Chairman of the BOR. Those 2 individuals are also the primary reason Herman is even still there today.

Mack was brought to UofH to raise money for the new stadium. He did that and the stadium got built. He did that at Akron as well, which was his previous job. That was his primary accomplishment. He made 2 bad hires with Tony Levine in football and James Dickey in b-ball. Sumlin was hired by the previous AD, Dave Maggard, so Mack didn't even get credit for that. Mack was very much a hit or miss AD. He did accomplish what he was primarily brought there for.

I don't think it's a bad hire for Baylor. Mack appears to have worn out his welcome at Mizz with all of the bad PR they have had these last several months. But to try and link that with a possibility of Baylor hiring Herman is almost laughable.

Bottom line, Herman will leave UofH at some point (maybe even after next season), but it will be for a blue blood program. He turned down South Carolina last year. This story also seems to leave out the fact that Mizz just hired a new coach after last season and Herman wasn't even a candidate. The link between Rhoades and Herman is pretty weak. It's just something to say to make the hire look better for Baylor.

You say herman will leave for a blue blood program. Guess you are saying aggie is outta the running for him?

Herman will leave UH for a top shelf Texas Program. If either Horns or Aggies job is open next year, he would take it if offered, and if both of them are open he would most likely go

                  1. Texas
                  2. A&M

                  in that order

It's my prediction that both schools do well enough this year that coaching changes are not even a serious point of discussion.

Hard to say really. I've met Herman a couple of times and have heard him speak at a few places. For lack of a better way to say it, he just doesn't seem to fit the Aggie mold. I think he would be a shoe-in for UT. Also, people never seem to mention, he would be a top candidate to replace Urban Meyer in a few years. Not to say he wouldn't take the Aggie job as they would probably throw crazy money at him if Sumlin is pushed out the door. Funny, if Aggies push Sumlin out the door, I could say Baylor going after him.

The vibe I see from Herman and even his wife is he is happy where he is right now. His currently salary is better than half of the P5 schools and his staff is the highest paid out of all G5 schools and competitive to other P5 schools. It tells you a lot about a head coach at UH whenever his defensive coordinator is offered a job from Wisconsin and turns it down. His staff want to hang with him.

It just seems that when he leaves UH, it will be for a major step up...not middle of the road P5 program. He already turned down South Carolina last year.

                        I tend to agree.

side note : Von Miller is now the highest paid "non-quarterback" in NFL history..6 year $114M with $70M guarantees

I honestly didn't think Elway was going to do something like this..

Major Tennison finally decommitted from Texas, he's thinking he won't be utilized in the new system. Likely headed to Bama.

I know Herman pretty well after spending two years around him at Texas. We even lived in the same building. You are spot on in your two post. Herman is a very smart dude and has a plan in his mind. I see him being very selective. He has coached in Texas for 12 out of his 17 years, so he is very familiar with the in state programs.
