In other news, A&M received a verbal committment from an OL that was committed to OkSt. I dont know much about him but Jim Turner sure liked him enought to go hard after him.
His only other offer was from Tulsa. Many think this is offer to get Creed Humphrey as they are boys. I hope Turner is as good as you boys are making him out to be cause he has a lot of work to do. With that beings said, I am never disappointed with any OLine pickup.
What I talked about a couple of weeks ago is Sumlin is turning up the pressure to get some commitments to try to draw up some momentum. His last three takes seem like guys he could have had down the road after better targets did not plan out. How many spots are in this class for A&M? Seems like they have should have the ability to take a big class.

This is absolutely the case and these kids are not evaluated anywhere near those Turner helped put in the league on his previous stop. Hopefully it works out for them.

I could of sworn I read on here, and other boards, how wickline was the best OL coach in the country when he came to Texas. He put what 1 OL guy in the league at Okst before Texas (Okung)? Turner has put Joekel, Matthews, harrison, Ogbuehi, Pat Lewis, and was part of getting Ifedi committed just at his last stop at A&M, plus coaching in the league. If ya'll can claim wickline was the best OL coach in the country, Turner's resume trumps his and says HES the best in the country hehehehe

Wickline was considered in the coaching community and the media as one of the top OLine coaches in the country. His speciality was turning chicken **** into chicken salad. He wasn't getting the most high profiled recruits at OSU but still producing good offensive lines. That is where his reputation came from. He was like oil and water at Texas, but the Oline was getting better under his watch (2 freshmen AA).
I never heard Turner's name associated with A&M Oline the first time around. It was always Mike Sherman's OLine, not Turner's. Sherman was known to work with the group at practice. If he was the best OLine in the country, why was he out of a job for a year and A&M plucked him coaching RB's at Cincinnati. He wasn't even coaching the Oline there. Last time around he had the #38, #58, #118 composite recruit in the country to work with. This time around he has #188, #494, and #1495 recruit to work with. That is why my statement says I hope he is as good as yall are saying cause he does not have the same type of recruits to work with.
Turner was always a huge part of what Sherman was able to do with O-lines. I am comfortable with Turner and look forward to seeing improvement up front this year. Our experiment last year was a disaster.
Not the most popular team on this thread but ...
101 days until my Huskers kick off the season. It can't get here fast enough and I just hope for some continuous improvement this year.

Me either....It was always Sherman's line and talent mentioned on here.....
Good point on asking why he was out of a job for a year and then had to settle for being a RB coach. That's interesting he was not sought after as an Oline coach. You'd think if the reputation was truly there, coaching RBs would never be an option. Folks would be beating his door down to get him on staff.
Heck Wickline only needed a month to find another Oline job...
I hope we ALL know EXACTLY which post made this thread take an unnecessary turn.
I welcome the post from DRettele. I have been wondering what the Nebraska nation thinks of their decision to join the Big10? Is it just bad timing that Neb has struggled in football as of late? Or are the two related? Nebraska has been such a power in CFB and it seems from the outside that this dry spell may be more than just a phase. And not just football. Nebraska baseball seemed to always be very stout in the past.
