    2016 Spring crappie spawn

There's big fish staging in the brush to move in and spawn and a lot of males shallow right now. Lots of small fish you had to wade through in the brush to get good ones. They were far and few between. We had enough for 2nd place in division 2 with 9.25 and had a 2.41. Yesterday it woulda took 14 pounds to get a check I have no doubt. Bring on post spawn brushpile and dock shooting fish!!! I hate spawning crappie.

Awesome Slew! I know you put some work in to this one and the results show it!

We're they in our division? Haven't seen them before. They did good! If they had another fish they woulda been near the top. Separated us from a competitor for angler of the year a little bit so I was thankful for that!! Where they live at? Had redfish on their shirts I think!! Big fish tourney on Fork in 2 weeks and then on Ray Bob 3rd Sat of May

Nice job Todd! Im off work tomorrow and planned on heading to Ray Bob to help my buddy pre fish for bass champs so I could bring my crappie gear as well if I end up going. Wind looks brutal so I might not.

I hear ya on the wind. I didnt fish saturday but did fish sunday on fork for Megabass. My face is so windchapped. Winds were brutal running around the lake.

Toledo Bend shut down with the rain and water fluctuations. I left Thursday. Caught 2 2 pounders in 30 feet. Their eggs showed signs of the spawn being close. be back at it Tuesday.

How did you end up doing?

Caught a few yesterday on Fork. Nothing special. Had one right around 2lbs. Pressure washed the camp and had a fish fry last night and a campfire. Too tired to get up and look for fish today. Headed back up there next weekend!!

Little man whipped me again!!! Couldn't be prouder!! I had just caught a crappie when I saw a rod bump and hollered at him to grab it. I threw my fish on the floor of the boat just in time to net his only keeper of the day!! 2.22 and good enough for first place in 10 and under!! He won second last year with a 2.07! Grampy fished with us and also only managed one keeper that ended up winning closest to 1.25 pounds and was worth $250! I had a dozen fish or so and 6 keepers but nothing good enough to win anything. Big fish was 3.20 worth $9k and it took a 2.46 to get in the top ten. Wasted a couple hours fishing shallow which I hate anyhow with 3 green trashfish to show for it. All our fish came on brush 16-20' deep. Big fish were all caught on brush and timber 12-16' the way folks talked. 216 entries this year. CAT puts on a heck of a show!! So proud of little man!!!
