Sony or Samsung. We bought a Sony 55" 4K several months back and the picture quality is fantastic. Netflix has quite a few 4K options and the nature documentaries are phenomenal.

I have a 60" Samsung in my game room, but I wouldn't recommend it. I prefer the picture and quality of either Sony or LG. Sharp also makes a great TV. We don't have cable and only stream, so there's actually a good bit of 4K available. I don't care for the smart tv's...I prefer to set each of mine up with Rokus.

I bought a 46" Samsung 720p with none of the doodads that everybody says are must haves. Got it about 6 months ago at Nebraska furniture mart when I was there checking them out. $250. Now, I'm sure I could tell a difference if I put it side by side with a 1080 4K, $1000 TV. But for my use, I'm dang happy. And that price. It's just insane how cheap TV's are these days.

honestly most of the big name brands all make a great tv. I'd definately get 4k, I record my video's all in 4k and stuff will start transitioning to it. People who say they can't see the difference haven't truly seen it . . . .
I'd be more focused on the smart features, the particular look a screen you enjoy. I have a number of screens in my office and at home and even manipulating the settings there is a difference from make to maker in color warmth.
Look at em all and buy the one that suits what you see the best. Make sure it's a smart tv (online video streaming is a big advantage) and I'd at a minimum get 1080 but every replacement tv I get will be 4k

Unless you have a specific need for 4K, I wouldn't spend any extra to get a tv with 4K now. The science says that given the average size tv's that most people own, people typically do not sit close enough to their tv to actually see the difference between 1080p and 4K. Standing 5 or 6 feet from it yes, but at typical distances in your home, no.
That's how 4K sells itself in the store. You stand there a few feet away from a wall of tv's and 4K stands out. Back away to the 10-12' range most of us watch tv at and 4K does not stand out so much. Now jump out there with a 70-80" and larger tv and 4K starts to make sense.Last edited by Roscoe; 01-11-2016, 11:40 AM.

I have owned 3-4 Samsungs and have been very pleased. Having said that I just bought a 55in Vizeo and really enjoy that. I would shop for features and performance over the best deal. If your main purpose is for sports you will want to spend a little more for quality. What type of lighting will you have? Some will work better in well lit areas vs a theater room.

if you want the BEST picture out there, with technology that will be the future for the next few years, check out the LG 4K OLED. It is the only Tv we have looked at that was better than our beloved Panisonic plasma. We bought the 55 inch LG at Christmas and are blown away at the detail, color and depth of scenery every time we watch it. Went with the curved version and the picture is great from anywhere in room. Dish Network is gearing up to offer 4K in the next few weeks, and can't even imagine how much better that will be. They are a bit pricey, our 55inch was 2400.00 but believe me, if you see 1 in person and compare to other tvs on the floor, you won't want to buy anything else.
